Tottenham are on edge on the final day of the season.

The Premier League season is almost over, except for the relegation battle which Tottenham and West Ham are still fighting for until the very last minute.

Following their defeat to neighbors Chelsea in the last round, Tottenham have no choice but to secure at least a draw when they host Everton in London at 10 PM on May 24th.

Before the final round of matches, Tottenham were 17th with 38 points, just two points ahead of West Ham, who were one place below them. This meant the relegation battle was now a contest between the two London clubs. If they beat Everton at home, Roberto de Zerbi's team would officially secure their place in the Premier League, regardless of West Ham's result in their away match against Leeds United.

Even if Tottenham draw with Everton and West Ham beat Leeds, the Spurs would still be almost safe. Both teams would then have 39 points, but Tottenham would have a better goal difference, a gap that would be very difficult to bridge after just one game.

Despite having their fate in their own hands, Tottenham cannot afford to be complacent. A season fraught with upheaval has transformed the North London club from a contender for European qualification into one of the league's most disappointing teams. Constant changes on the coaching staff and an unreliable defense have caused them to lose consistency for much of the season.

Everton have already secured their survival in the Premier League and are currently mid-table. The head-to-head history also favors Tottenham. The London team beat Everton 3-0 in the first leg of this season and have won all four of their most recent home matches against them in the Premier League.

This will give the home fans reason to believe in a positive outcome, avoiding a disappointing end unlike anything seen in Tottenham's nearly half-century in England's top flight.

Even the supercomputer Opta predicted that Tottenham had the ability to win, at least 2-1, against Everton to secure their survival in the league.
