Cam Pha: Expanding the coastal tourism area.

Việt NamViệt Nam31/10/2024

In order to diversify products and expand tourism space, Cam Pha is focusing on developing beach tourism, proposing many new products to awaken the potential of Bai Tu Long Bay...

Besides its many scenic spots and historical relics, Cam Pha has great potential for services and marine and island tourism with a sea area of over 150km² including 50 large and small islands. Cam Pha also has 73km of coastline with a large seaport, especially the deep-water port system: Cua Ong, Hon Net - Con Ong; and three tourist beaches…

Cam Pha is also identified as a bridge between the province's two tourism regions (Ha Long and Van Don - Co To). Within the city, the Bai Tu Long Bay area boasts beautiful, pristine scenery and rich potential.

The beautiful scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay and the potential for marine and island tourism are being actively developed by Cam Pha province.

Therefore, expanding southward and exploiting the strengths of the sea and islands is a direction that is receiving attention. “To leverage this potential, Cam Pha is focusing on exploring, researching, and proposing tours and routes; promoting new products, and actively coordinating with relevant agencies to accelerate progress… to soon realize these itineraries and awaken and fully utilize the potential of the sea,” shared Mr. Bui Hai Son, Head of the Culture and Sports Department of Cam Pha City.

It is evident that, in recent times, Cam Pha has genuinely focused on and accelerated the development and expansion of its tourism space. First and foremost, the city has clearly outlined in its Resolution and tourism development plan for 2025 with a vision to 2030, focusing on exploiting marine tourism, expanding the area to the south, and developing connections between marine tourism and Ha Long, Van Don, etc. This is also a concrete step in implementing the province's plans and projects on developing tourism products associated with Bai Tu Long Bay and island and coastal tourism.

To realize this goal sooner, Cam Pha is actively researching, reviewing, and investigating tourism resources in Bai Tu Long Bay, connecting with Ha Long Bay, and assessing the current situation as a basis for developing tourism products. Since the beginning of 2024, Cam Pha City has proposed tourism products and routes from piers in Cam Pha to Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay; and proposed adding overnight cruise points in Bai Tu Long Bay within Cam Pha's jurisdiction to the provincial planning.

Accordingly, Cam Pha proposed the development of new products, including: an overnight tour route on Bai Tu Long Bay (Vung Duc - Hon Xep Park route) and 3 new daytime tour routes (Route 1: Cam Pha Port and Pier - Ong Cu Island; Route 2: Cam Pha Port and Pier - Ban Sen; Route 3: Cam Pha Port and Pier - Quan Lan and Minh Chau Islands).

At the same time, Cam Pha is closely coordinating with the Tourism and Transportation sectors to survey and assess resources, advantages, and difficulties in implementation. Cam Pha is also focusing on expanding its space by implementing marine aquaculture experiences linked to tourism development; and accelerating investment in three mooring points for overnight stays in Bai Tu Long Bay.

Notably, in April, the city collaborated with TUI Museum Group, which manages and operates major cruise lines (such as Meinchift Cruises, Alida Cruises, MSC Cruises), and related units to conduct surveys of tourist destinations and products catering to cruise ship passengers.

In addition, Cam Pha is also planning to develop a fleet of 50-80 tourist boats, including about 20 overnight cruise ships to serve tourists staying overnight in the bay; promote marine economic development through various major events; install BTS stations to provide wide mobile coverage; pay attention to ports, wharves, and tourist transport fleets; and coordinate with localities, departments, and businesses to implement tourism products that connect with Bai Tu Long Bay.

Thanks to this, initial results have been achieved so far, such as accelerating the survey, implementation, and operation of new tours and products, such as: the Vung Duc - Hon Xep Park tourist route;   The Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay itinerary is specially designed for cruise ship passengers.   The new "Heritage Journey" route connects Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay using the luxury cruise ship Grand Pioneers 2.   It has been implemented since May 2024...

Although initial results have been promising, showing the right direction and unlocking the enormous potential of Cam Pha's coastal tourism, in the long term, for sustainable development and diverse experiences, the locality needs to...   Conduct investment surveys for waterways, transportation infrastructure, ports, and other basic infrastructure and services in accordance with current regulations...
