For nearly four hours, passengers became accustomed to the constant silence of the loudspeakers and the rhythmic clatter of the train. But as the train approached Saigon Station, a warm, gentle voice of an announcer rang out, providing information about Ho Chi Minh City, highlighting its prominent landmarks and development potential… in both Vietnamese and English. In short, it offered passengers more insight into a city full of achievements and attractions. Upon disembarking, everyone felt joyful with every step, knowing they were returning to their home, their residence, or exploring this glamorous metropolis.
I need an introduction to Binh Thuan province on the Phan Thiet train.
The Phan Thiet – Saigon train that day was very crowded, with foreign passengers scattered throughout the carriages. The train was silent before departing on schedule as indicated on the tickets. As it approached stations like Di An and Bien Hoa, the train's loudspeaker announced reminders for passengers to disembark at their designated stations.

On the return journey, of course, I was also on the Phan Thiet train, but on the Saigon-Phan Thiet route. As we approached Phan Thiet station, I hoped to hear the familiar voice of the train announcer introducing the destination, at least the Phan Thiet area, but there was absolutely none. Only the constant rumbling of the train until it stopped at Phan Thiet station. Then, passengers poured down from the carriages, an estimated 200 people, both locals and foreigners.
It's clear that since the Lunar New Year, both domestic and international tourists have been visiting Phan Thiet in greater numbers, as even sleeper buses are fully booked. Data from Phan Thiet City shows that the number of visitors to Phan Thiet in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated to increase by over 40% compared to the same period last year. A significant number of these visitors arrived by train, specifically on trains between Saigon and Phan Thiet. These trains can be considered tourist trains, as in addition to local residents, many families and foreign tourists prefer the leisurely, relaxing, and safe journey.
From this, one can imagine that they traveled over 200 km, sitting on the train for 4 hours, because Phan Thiet has many attractions and values that tourists believe, when visiting and wandering here for a few days, their souls will be relaxed and satisfied with what they desire to enjoy and experience. The scenic spots and historical relics of Phan Thiet in particular, and Binh Thuan in general, are not found everywhere. For example, Duc Thanh School, where President Ho Chi Minh, as a young man, taught for 6 months in Phan Thiet before leaving to find a way to save the country. Or the Phan Thiet Water Tower, designed by Prince Souphanouvong (Laos) nearly 100 years ago, making it a distinctive symbol of Phan Thiet and also a symbol of Vietnamese-Lao solidarity. Then there's Lau Ong Hoang, the resort capital, the record-breaking whale skeleton at Van Thuy Tu, Phu Quy Island, Bau Trang, Ke Ga Cape, Ta Cu Mountain Pagoda, Ba Waterfall… And that's not all, the seafood of Binh Thuan province is diverse and delicious, along with a very unique culinary tradition that has now been largely brought together in the food street on Tuyen Quang Street – Phan Thiet… All of this information attracts tourists to Phan Thiet first, before spreading out to the surrounding districts and towns.
Furthermore, even with just one trip or several trips, it's impossible to fully appreciate the unique features and specialties of a region. Therefore, if the Phan Thiet – Saigon train route allows some time to introduce Ho Chi Minh City, then on the return trip, the Saigon – Phan Thiet route, the Vietnam Railway Transport Joint Stock Company should also dedicate some time to introducing Binh Thuan province, starting with Phan Thiet city. This would serve as a high-quality tour for train passengers.
