Tact and caution are needed.

Recently, a Facebook account sparked controversy by posting a wedding invitation. The bride and groom had "carefully" included a QR code of their bank account on the invitation. Most people approved of the couple's family's action.

However, some commentators argue that printing bank account QR codes on wedding invitations is tantamount to "maximizing revenue," implying that even if guests don't attend, they'll still have to scan the code to send wedding gifts.

A wedding reception in Bac Giang province displayed a bank account QR code for guests to easily scan and transfer wedding gifts.

Previously, before QR codes became popular, some people printed bank account numbers and pasted them on wedding gift boxes or placed them on the reception desk. This was considered convenient for guests, as those who didn't want to use cash could transfer money. It was also customary for anyone attending a wedding to send a monetary gift as a blessing.

The application of technology in life brings many conveniences, but it also needs to be done carefully and discreetly. For example, except for weddings, other celebrations such as birthdays, housewarmings, baby showers, or even funerals would be very inappropriate if a printed bank account QR code was displayed in the reception area. In this case, the host could print the bank account QR code in advance and only show it to those who need it.

In an era when the government is campaigning to reduce the use of cash in daily payments, the use of bank account QR codes is becoming increasingly widespread. Many shops and service establishments clearly display their bank account QR codes for customers to easily scan and pay. Many ride-hailing drivers and delivery personnel also prepare printed sheets of paper with bank account QR codes for their customers.

However, users of technology devices need to be not only discreet but also careful about protecting their information. We have witnessed many people forgetting to delete their information after entering it into registration machines at supermarkets, hospitals, etc. For example, on medical registration machines, the next person can clearly see the previous person's personal information, including full name, date of birth, ID number, address, etc. Ideally, the application software should be designed to automatically delete the information displayed on the screen after the registration card has been printed. The location of these registration machines should have additional shields above and on both sides of the screen to prevent others from reading the information displayed.
