The event, held from May 28th to 30th at the Can Tho City Center for Advanced Science and Technology Application, attracted participation from research institutes, universities, businesses, cooperatives, OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities, and numerous distribution units in the region. More than just a typical trade promotion activity, the event is seen as a concrete step to promote technology transfer, the application of traceability, barcode systems, and digital platforms in quality management, production, and product consumption. It also serves as an opportunity to promote and expand markets for key products and OCOP products from Can Tho and other provinces in the Mekong Delta region, amidst the growing demand for safe and transparent consumer goods.

Comrade Nguyen Phuong Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science , Technology and Environment, delivered a speech at the event.

The highlight of the event was the QR code-based traceability experience. By scanning the code, consumers could easily access information about the origin, production process, quality standards, and manufacturer of the product. This activity contributes to increased transparency, boosts consumer trust, and supports businesses in professionalizing their marketing and sales activities.

During the event, numerous activities were organized, including an exhibition of key OCOP (One Commune One Product) products and technologies, a supply-demand connection workshop, seminars, and live streams promoting trade and digital technology experiences. These activities aimed to bring technology closer to production practices while expanding product distribution channels on digital platforms.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Tuan, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, highly appreciated Can Tho City's initiative in connecting technology supply and demand with the development of OCOP products. According to him, this is a practical solution to realize the goal of economic development based on science, technology, and innovation.

Delegates performed the opening ceremony of the "Connecting Technology Supply and Demand - Key Products, OCOP Products with Traceability in Can Tho City in 2026" event.

Comrade Nguyen Phuong Tuan stated that Can Tho City currently has 903 OCOP products from 454 entities, demonstrating great potential in agricultural economic development. However, to increase added value and conquer international markets, businesses and cooperatives need to boldly invest in post-harvest technology, deep processing, biodegradable packaging, and digital transformation in supply chain management.

According to Comrade Nguyen Phuong Tuan, traceability should not only stop at affixing electronic labels but must become a tool for transparentizing the entire production-consumption chain, meeting the increasingly high demands of the market for food safety and export standards.
