Can Tho assigns duties to the Chairman and 5 Vice-Chairmen of the city.

Specifically, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Truong Canh Tuyen , comprehensively leads and manages all activities within the functions, duties, and powers of the City People's Committee.

Mr. Tuyen oversees and directs: the Department of Internal Affairs, the City Military Command, the City Police, the City Inspectorate, and the City Statistics Department.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City directly directs and manages the following areas: the working regulations of the City People's Committee; five-year and annual socio -economic development plans; medium-term and annual public investment plans; five-year financial plans, three-year state budget financial plans, state budget estimates and annual local budget allocation plans; regional coordination and linkage activities; international cooperation programs and cooperation with provinces and cities nationwide on socio-economic matters.

In addition, the City Chairman is responsible for administrative reform; inspection; statistics; prevention and control of corruption, negative practices, and waste; citizen reception; national defense and security; diplomacy; and overall direction in implementing the Central Committee's Resolution on the construction and development of Can Tho City.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Truong Canh Tuyen, also provided general guidance and direction for the implementation and supervision of the Vice Chairmen (according to their respective areas of responsibility) in directing the implementation of important tasks, key national and city projects; urgent and sensitive tasks, pressing issues in the economic, cultural, and social fields; and important, breakthrough solutions.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Nguyen Van Hoa , is overseeing and directing: the City People's Committee Office; the Department of Construction; the Management Board of Can Tho Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks; the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Transportation and Agricultural Works of the City; and the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction Using Official Development Assistance Funds of the City.

Mr. Hoa, on behalf of the Chairman, directly monitors and directs the fields of transportation, construction, urban development, economic zone development, industrial parks, and industrial clusters.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Vuong Quoc Nam , oversees and directs: the Department of Finance; the Department of Industry and Trade; the Can Tho Investment Promotion, Trade and Exhibition Center; the City Development Investment Fund; the Credit Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises; state-owned enterprises and enterprises with state capital managed by the People's Committee of Can Tho City; and the Can Tho City Office for Coordinating National Target Programs.

Mr. Nam also directly monitors and directs the fields of finance, banking, industry and trade, and enterprise development on behalf of the Chairman.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Nguyen Van Khoi , oversees and directs: the Department of Science and Technology; the Department of Education and Training; the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; the Institute of Economics and Social Sciences; the Union of Science and Technology Associations; and universities and colleges under the People's Committee of the city.

Mr. Khoi, on behalf of the Chairman, directly monitors and directs the fields of education and training, science and technology, ethnic groups and religions, labor and employment, policies for meritorious individuals, and social security.

Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Chi Hung oversees and directs: the Department of Agriculture and Environment; the Department of Justice; the City Land Fund Development Center; the Management Board of the High-Tech Agricultural Application Zone; the Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve; the City Cooperative Union; and the Office of the City Civil Defense Command.

Mr. Hung, on behalf of the Chairman, directly monitors and directs the fields of agriculture and environment, poverty reduction, elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing; cooperative economics, state management of justice, construction and law enforcement.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep , oversees and directs: the Department of Foreign Affairs; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Department of Health; the City Social Insurance; the City Social Policy Bank; the City Management Board of Investment Projects for Civil and Industrial Construction; and the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Can Tho City.

Ms. Diep, on behalf of the Chairman, directly monitors and directs the fields of culture, sports and tourism, health, foreign affairs, and broadcasting.
