On May 30, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Can Tho City Open Children's Football Championship for the Hung Thinh Cup. The matches will take place at the Can Tho City Multi-purpose Gymnasium until International Children's Day (June 1).
Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, presented souvenir flags to the football teams participating in the tournament.

This year's tournament brings together 8 teams from 4 provinces and cities, including: Viet My Phu Tan Shrimp Club (Ca Mau), Delta Ca Mau Club, Viet Goal Club (HCMC), U.11 Binh Duong Football Federation and 4 Can Tho City teams: U.11 Ninh Kieu, An Thoi - Binh Thuy Club, Thoi Lai Club, Nguyen Huu Nhon Club.
The tournament applies the rules of 5-a-side football. Each match has 2 halves, each half is 20 minutes. The qualifying round is a round robin. The semi-finals and finals are a knockout round. If after the official match time, the 2 teams are tied, a 6m penalty shootout will be held to determine the winning team.
The tournament brings together 4 home teams from Can Tho and 4 away teams to compete.

Mr. Tran Duy Hung, Head of Sports Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, said that the tournament aims to create a playground for children during the summer; to encourage and motivate them to participate in the campaign for the whole population to exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho.
In addition, the tournament also aims to discover and select young talents. Potential faces will be isolated for training and nurturing. From here, the city will have a young football force to inherit, can integrate and keep up with localities with strong football development.
In that sense, before entering the competition, the young players are expected to compete with the spirit of dedication to demonstrate their skills, talents and to contribute beautiful plays to serve the audience. The referees are asked to work focused, to manage the tournament fairly and accurately to reflect the professional level of the young players.
