Opening ceremony of the autumn festival in the Con Son

On the morning of October 1st, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City held a ceremony to announce the opening of the Con Son - Kiet Bac Autumn Festival 2025 at Kiet Bac Temple, located in Tran Hung Dao ward.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, and representatives of the organizing committee, local government and people.

The annual Con Son - Kiet Bac Festival is held in the autumn, when people make pilgrimages to Kiet Bac Temple to commemorate and express gratitude for the merits of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan. Before the festival officially opens, the organizing committee holds a ceremony to prepare for the opening, followed by cultural, sports , and tourism activities for locals and visitors.

Furthermore, the traditional offering ceremony is also an occasion for the people to offer sacrifices and pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and a bountiful harvest. This is one of the important rituals, marking the beginning of the autumn festival at Con Son - Kiet Bac, deeply rooted in the culture and beliefs of the local people.

The Con Son - Kiet Bac Autumn Festival is one of the first distinctive and typical traditional cultural events of Hai Phong City after its merger.

The 2025 festival will not only be a solemn cultural and spiritual event commemorating the merits of our ancestors, but will also be elevated in scale. The festival will include a ceremony honoring the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiet Bac complex of historical sites and scenic spots, recognized by UNESCO as an inter-provincial World Cultural Heritage site. Of the 12 sites and scenic spots in the complex, Hai Phong is home to 5.

The festival will take place from October 1-12 (August 10-20 in the lunar calendar), coinciding with the commemoration of the 725th anniversary of the death of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan and the opening of the Con Son - Kiet Bac autumn festival.

Many notable activities will take place during the festival season. These include the Opening Ceremony of the Kiet Bac Temple, the Military Festival on the Luc Dau River with 50 boats participating, the Prayer for Peace and Lantern Festival, and the procession and commemoration of the 583rd anniversary of the death of national hero and world cultural figure Nguyen Trai.

In addition, Hai Phong City will organize a thematic exhibition titled "Journey to World Heritage Sites," a week of culture, tourism, and trade promotion, bringing together hundreds of OCOP products, traditional crafts, and unique local cuisine.

The city also launched three new tourism products, offering experiences of the world cultural heritage sites recently recognized by UNESCO.

In addition, Hai Phong City also organizes a series of unique cultural and artistic activities featuring live stage setups, modern sound and lighting technology, 3D mapping projections, and traditional craft village spaces with performances by artisans… for residents and tourists to experience.
