As of the end of April 2023, the HSA exam had received 88,910 registrations. The participation rate for the March and April exams reached 97.3% (43,761 candidates). The exam results are used by 74 universities for admissions. Given this situation, many tutoring groups have created fake accounts, impersonating candidates who scored 126/150 points and claiming to have answered the group's questions correctly. Without vigilance, candidates can be deceived, leading to wasted time, pressure, and inefficiency as the exams approach.
Regarding the misinformation circulating about the HSA exam, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, affirmed: “Besides organizing the exam, we always listen to public feedback about the HSA exam through various information channels. At this time, no candidate has achieved a score of 126. Fake accounts are talking about getting questions like 'hut' or 'kite'... but in reality, we do not have such questions in our current exam question bank.”
Regarding the repetition rate of questions, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao confirmed that the rate of repeated questions is less than 0.5% because the computer system objectively scans from a question bank drawn from the exam data bank. With 43,761 candidates taking the exam recently, the probability of absolute question duplication is extremely low. According to the HSA exam regulations of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, candidates who intentionally disclose part of the exam question data after the exam period ends will have their exam results canceled, and relevant parties will be notified for handling.
Recently, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has verified several cases of candidates from Hanoi , Bac Giang, and Thai Binh provinces who leaked exam questions and were dealt with according to regulations. Some candidates reported that tutoring groups sent people to take the exam to "memorize" the questions and prepare for the exam. Professor Nguyen Tien Thao stated: "Regarding the questions mentioned by tutoring groups, we verify and remove them from the question bank if the content is more than 50% similar. To date, we have noted a few questions in the fields of language and literature that candidates did not remember accurately and which were discussed on forums; these have also been temporarily locked."
The Director of the VNU Hanoi Examination Center also noted to candidates that the repetition of a particular literary work in the exam does not necessarily mean the question is repeated. The literary work is merely the context and material for constructing the question. Even with the same context, the rhetorical devices, forms, emotions, commentary, spelling, and expression for each type of question in each exam are different. Therefore, candidates may encounter the same literary work, but the questions will be different. This does not occur in the question sections related to mathematics, natural sciences , or technology.
"Regarding the organization of the exam, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has a coordination regulation with the Ministry of Public Security , which includes a section on ensuring the safety of the HSA exam. For individuals and organizations that intentionally violate the regulations, we will gather information and documents and forward them to the relevant authorities for handling in the near future," Professor Nguyen Tien Thao emphasized.
