Grealish and girlfriend devastated as police stop investigation into burglary |
Despite a “detailed investigation” into the burglary at the England star’s £5.6m mansion, police have failed to come up with any clues. A source said Jack and his girlfriend Sasha Attwood, both 29, were “devastated” to learn the investigation had been dropped, with the gang “almost certainly not guilty”.
During the December 2023 break-in, thieves stole around £1 million worth of jewellery and watches, while Grealish was playing for Manchester City against Everton. Sasha and ten family members were at the villa at the time. The WAG herself discovered the incident and raised the alarm, but the thieves escaped within minutes.
Police previously said they had carried out “exhaustive” searches in the area following the incident, but to no avail. The decision to close the investigation is seen as a sign that this may have been the work of a professional international criminal gang.
Jack's mansion in Knutsford, Cheshire, is in an area that has been targeted by gangs of thieves from Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Peru.
A source told the paper yesterday: “Jack and Sasha knew early on that these men would probably never be caught. But the fact that the police have officially closed the investigation is still a huge blow to them. It means the gang are almost certain to get away with it and can attack others.”
Cheshire Police also said in a statement: “Following a detailed investigation by detectives, the case has been closed without identifying a suspect. Should new information become available, a review will be conducted.”
