TPO - After a period of surveying, the Vietnam Record Organization has officially established a record for the pair of dragons in Binh Duong province.
On March 5th, in an interview with Tien Phong newspaper, a representative of the leadership of Tuong Binh Hiep ward (Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province) stated that the Vietnam Record Organization has just established a record for the pair of dragons assembled from the most handcrafted ceramic jars and pots in Vietnam. The record was officially set on March 4th, 2024.
The dragon mascot, designed to welcome the Year of the Dragon 2024, is located on Ho Van Cong Street (Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City). This is a traditional craft village with a history of over 300 years.
What makes the pair of dragons in Binh Duong unique and considered "one of a kind" is that they are made from traditional ceramic jars and pots.
According to Mr. Thuan, the main artisan responsible for creating this pair of dragons, each dragon has up to 38 large jars and approximately 20,000 smaller pots.
In addition, many of the details used to create a complete dragon are also made of ceramic, a type of clay that is fired in a kiln.
Mr. Tam, the owner of a traditional pottery workshop in Tuong Binh Hiep ward, sponsored all the jars and pots used to create this impressive pair of dragons. Mr. Tam's family-run pottery workshop is over 160 years old.
According to representatives of the Tuong Binh Hiep ward government, the pair of dragons not only welcome the Year of the Dragon 2024, but will also serve as a lasting symbol of the Tuong Binh Hiep craft village.
