Cat Ba sea cable car ticket price is reduced by 50% to 50,000 VND per trip from May 27, for all tourists.

The information was announced shortly after a large ferry carrying tourists to Cat Ba had an accident with water flooding into the cabin at noon on May 26, forcing Dong Bai wharf to temporarily suspend operations.

A representative of Cat Ba Sun Company Limited said that this decision aims to support people and tourists to come to Cat Ba conveniently, safely and have a good experience when traveling .

The new fares will apply from today until August 31, the peak tourist season in the North.

With the new ticket price, people will have to pay 50,000 VND per trip, children under 1 meter are free.

At the cable car waiting room on Cat Hai Island, there is a parking lot of dozens of hectares, with a fee of 5,000 - 10,000 VND for motorbikes; 20,000 - 70,000 VND for cars depending on the parking time.

Arriving at Phu Long Station, visitors can use taxis, shuttle buses or buses with prices ranging from 13,000 to 50,000 VND per person depending on the type to continue traveling to Cat Ba town center.

For many years, people and tourists coming to Cat Ba by ferry during peak season or weekends have had a hard time. Tourists often have to wait for hours to board the ferry. In addition, when the weather is unusual or the wind is strong, the ferry will stop without warning. Traveling by cable car is considered more convenient.

The Cat Hai - Phu Long three-wire cable car route has a total investment of more than VND 2,200 billion, is nearly 4 km long and has a capacity of 4,500 passengers per hour. Operating since June 2020, the Cat Hai - Phu Long cable car mainly takes visitors from Cat Hai island to near Cai Vieng wharf on the island, shortening travel time from about 20 minutes by ferry to 9 minutes.
