An important bridge to promote the people's right to self-governance.

On June 25th, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in coordination with the Steering Committee of the national-level scientific project "Promoting the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations to empower the people in the new development period of the country," organized a seminar and field survey in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Member of the Presidium, former Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Head of the survey team, stated, “Promoting the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations to empower the people in the new development period of the country” is a national-level scientific task to be carried out from 2023 to 2026. The research results will contribute to the interpretation of theoretical issues regarding the role of the people, the promotion of the people's role, as well as the viewpoint of the Party leading, the State managing, and the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations as the core to empower the people in the current process of accelerating industrialization, modernization of the country, and international integration.

At the seminar, delegates focused on exchanging and sharing outstanding results in promoting the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations in Ho Chi Minh City; and proposed solutions to innovate methods of propaganda, mobilization, and gathering of the masses; improve the effectiveness of social supervision and criticism; and promote the role of the people in the building of the Party and government.

Delegates argued that, in the context of the country entering a new era of development, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other political and social organizations play a fundamental and important bridging role in maximizing the people's right to self-governance.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front and other socio-political organizations need to continue promoting awareness of citizens' rights and obligations, creating favorable conditions for people to participate and contribute opinions to the process of building and perfecting laws, mechanisms, and policies. At the same time, they should strengthen their role in social supervision and criticism of the activities of state agencies, officials, and Party members.
