In 2024, despite certain difficulties, the city's socio-economic picture continued to develop, achieving many positive and comprehensive results in all fields. The city completed 14/14 targets, with 10 targets exceeding the Resolution of the Party Committee and the City People's Council. Notably, the number of visitors to the city reached over 5.4 million (109.8% of the plan, an increase of 230,000 visitors over the same period); the rate of staying guests reached 13.59%, equivalent to 745,920 visitors (113.25% of the plan). This has created favorable conditions to promote the development of the trade - service, production - business sectors. The total local budget revenue is over 947.6 billion VND, reaching 162.43% of the assigned estimate. Transport infrastructure continues to be completed. Political security, order and social safety continue to be maintained...

In particular, the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. “The recognition of the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is the pride of the local people and the honor of the whole country. The festival has profound spiritual significance, reflecting the cultural and spiritual life of the community. In recent times, the urban appearance of Chau Doc City has become brighter - greener - cleaner - more beautiful. This is thanks to the city's attention to investing in infrastructure construction associated with beautification, landscape construction, and expanding urban space in a civilized and modern direction. Roads in the area, especially in the central area, are increasingly invested in to be spacious and clean. Thanks to that, the city is gradually affirming its position as the second largest urban area in the province with great development potential. "With this development advantage, the city has taken advantage of and mobilized all resources to invest in the construction of key works and projects. Thereby, contributing to promoting the locality to develop faster and more sustainably" - Vice Chairman of Chau Doc City People's Committee Tran Quoc Tuan informed.
Care for families in difficult circumstances
Having lived in Chau Doc for more than 60 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang (residing in Vinh My ward) expressed: “Chau Doc has now become a bustling, modern city. We are extremely proud to witness our hometown changing day by day. Roads, spacious houses, and synchronous infrastructure investment have brought people a more comfortable life. In particular, the development of tourism has opened up many business opportunities, contributing to increasing income for local people.”
Along with economic development, local Party committees and authorities always pay special attention to social security work. Thanks to that, people's lives are increasingly improved, and policies to support families in difficult circumstances and people with meritorious services are implemented promptly. The construction of Great Unity houses, Love houses, scholarship support, free medical examination and treatment... These are clear evidences of the attention of Party committees and authorities to the people. In particular, the city has achieved the goal of no more poor and near-poor households in the city.
Ba Chua Xu Mountain Sam Festival 2024 and the 10th anniversary of the festival being included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage
“Over the past year, the Party building work, the work of developing Party members and improving the quality of Party members of the City Party Committee achieved positive results. In 2024, 91/86 new Party members were admitted, a rate of 105.81%; training, fostering and updating knowledge for 1,042 cadres, Party members, civil servants, public employees and workers. 2025 is the final year of the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2020 - 2025, requiring the entire political system to be more determined in implementing the goals and targets of the plan, while striving to compete to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels (term 2025 - 2030) towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. In order to continue to innovate, improve the quality of work, make breakthroughs, successfully and comprehensively implement the goals and tasks set out in the plan, ensure the excellent completion of the goals and targets of the Resolution on socio-economic development, period 2021 - 2025; The City People's Committee requests units and localities to continue to thoroughly grasp, seriously and effectively implement the goals and tasks set out in the Plan for implementing socio-economic development tasks in 2025.

In 2025, the city will mobilize and effectively use resources for comprehensive, stable and sustainable socio-economic development. Continue to develop and complete urban transport, trade and tourism infrastructure to create a solid foundation to accelerate the process of building Chau Doc City into a smart and modern tourist city; improve the criteria to meet the standards of a type II urban area; complete the criteria to meet the standards of a type I urban area. Identify administrative reform and smart tourism development as a breakthrough in socio-economic development; combine investment promotion and attraction; strengthen digital transformation; maintain national defense - security, political stability, order and social safety; ensure social security, improve the quality of life of the people.
Accordingly, the locality continues to develop agriculture combined with the application of science and technology towards improving productivity, quality, and competitiveness of agricultural products, increasing economic efficiency associated with sustainable development and environmental protection. Focus resources on investing in completing key and urgent projects, counterpart projects, projects with complete documents according to the provisions of the Law on Public Investment. Strengthen management of investment capital, disbursement progress, investment supervision and evaluation, and project quality. Speed up the construction progress of key projects, such as: Chau Doc City Convention Center; anti-erosion embankment to protect Chau Doc City from climate change, technical infrastructure of Nui Sam Cultural Park, tourist wharf, etc. Continue to speed up the progress of a number of key projects serving local economic and tourism development such as the construction of an 81m high Shakyamuni Buddha statue.

Regarding trade - services - tourism, the city builds a healthy, civilized, professional business environment to create a good impression for tourists when visiting and shopping locally. Developing tourism together with trade and services to become the city's key economic sector; developing smart tourism, creating a position and gradually bringing the tourism industry to increasingly sustainable development, diversification and improving the quality of services.
In addition to socio-economic development, the Standing Committee of Chau Doc City Party Committee continues to promote the synchronous and effective implementation of Party building and rectification work and the political system, resolutely prevent, repel, and strictly handle cadres and Party members who have degraded in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation".
