Realizing the aspiration for development.
The merger of An Giang and Kien Giang is a historic decision, creating a larger economic entity with a more diverse economic ecosystem and more effective regional coordination capabilities. This not only integrates border and maritime economies but also harmonizes tradition and modernity, internal strengths and long-term potential. This merger will open up opportunities for restructuring the region's infrastructure, forming more closely linked value chains from production, processing, logistics, and export. This will optimize resources, facilitate the formation of new key economic zones, attract strategic investments, and strengthen the internal capacity and competitiveness of the entire Southwest region. This vision is not a mechanical addition, but rather the creation of synergistic strength and new impetus for sustainable development.
At a meeting with the Standing Committees of the An Giang and Kien Giang Provincial Party Committees before the merger of the two provinces, General Secretary To Lam directed: “After the merger, the new province must quickly stabilize its organization, while focusing intensely on socio-economic development with a proactive, creative, decisive, and flexible spirit. The immediate goal is to strive to comprehensively complete all targets for 2025, especially achieving a GRDP growth rate of over 8%, creating a solid foundation for double-digit growth in subsequent periods. To achieve this goal, we need to focus on removing bottlenecks in the business environment, planning, infrastructure, capital sources, digital transformation, and the quality of human resources.”
Streamlining administrative processes and procedures, and applying information technology to shorten the time it takes to process applications for citizens.
Furthermore, continuing to promote administrative reform, decentralization, delegation of power, digitalization of procedures, and reducing time and costs for citizens and businesses are key. This not only creates momentum to promote the dynamic development of economic sectors, especially the private sector and the digital economy, but also demonstrates the commitment of the Party and the State to building a transparent and favorable investment and business environment.
Enhancing stature, achieving comprehensive development.
According to Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province, to realize its development aspirations, An Giang province is seriously, comprehensively, and creatively implementing important resolutions of the Politburo on strategic pillars such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Resolution 59-NQ/TW, Resolution 66-NQ/TW, and Resolution 68-NQ/TW. These serve as a "guiding principle" for all activities, ensuring development in the right direction. Alongside economic development, the province focuses on comprehensively developing social welfare and improving the quality of life for its people. Developing culture and preserving traditional values is a key factor, closely linked to fostering confidence, pride, and a desire to contribute among the people of the province. Simultaneously, there is a strong shift towards a development model based on knowledge, technology, and high-quality human resources. This direction aligns with the spirit of the Politburo's new resolutions and is also the shortest path for the province to make breakthroughs, catch up with new development trends in the era of digital transformation and comprehensive integration.
The success of the newly established province lies not only in economic figures but also in the strength of its political system. Successfully organizing Party congresses at all levels, leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party, is a key task. Personnel work will be meticulously prepared, adhering to principles, procedures, and ensuring democracy, impartiality, and objectivity, guaranteeing the creation of a new provincial Party and government leadership team that is high-quality, capable, united, visionary, and possesses modern governance capabilities. Personnel placement and arrangement must be harmonious across regions, avoiding local parochialism or the manifestation of group interests. Personnel must truly be at the heart of reform, leading innovation, possessing prestige, a spirit of service, and a willingness to take responsibility before the Party, the State, and the People.
Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Ho Van Mung, visited and encouraged officials and civil servants at the Long Xuyen Ward Public Administrative Service Center.
An international-scale event will be a significant highlight for An Giang: Successfully hosting the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc. The APEC 2027 Conference is a high-level diplomatic event of special significance not only for An Giang province but also for the entire Mekong Delta region and the whole country. This is a rare opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam as an integrated, innovative, friendly, and dynamic nation to the world, while simultaneously creating a strong impetus for the development of Phu Quoc in particular and An Giang province in general, boosting investment, tourism, trade, and infrastructure throughout the region.
With the unwavering determination of the Party Committee, the government, and the people, along with the strategic guidance of General Secretary To Lam, we are confident that An Giang province will steadily advance on its path of development, living up to its revolutionary traditions and important strategic position, and making a positive contribution to the overall prosperity of the country.
