Realizing development aspirations
The merger of An Giang and Kien Giang is a historic decision, creating an entity with a larger economic scale, a more diverse economic ecosystem and more effective regional coordination capabilities. This not only integrates the border economy and the maritime economy, but also harmonizes tradition and modernity, internal strength and potential for further expansion. This merger will open up opportunities to restructure the regional infrastructure system, forming more closely linked value chains from production, processing, logistics and export. This helps optimize resources, create conditions for the formation of new key economic zones, attract strategic investment, and strengthen internal strength and competitiveness for the entire Southwest region. This vision is not a mechanical addition, but the creation of a combined strength, a new driving force for sustainable development.
At the working session with the Standing Committees of An Giang and Kien Giang Provincial Party Committees before the merger of the two provinces, General Secretary To Lam directed: “After the merger, the new province must quickly stabilize its organization, while focusing highly on the task of socio-economic development with a proactive, creative, decisive and flexible spirit. The immediate goal is to strive to fully complete the targets of 2025, especially GRDP growth of more than 8%, creating a solid foundation for double-digit growth in the following stages. To achieve this goal, we need to focus on removing bottlenecks in the business environment, planning, infrastructure, capital, digital transformation and human resource quality”.
Streamlining administrative processes and procedures, applying information technology to shorten the time for people to process procedures.
Along with that, continuing to promote administrative reform, decentralization, delegation of power, digitalization of procedures, and reduction of time and costs for people and businesses is key. This not only creates momentum to promote dynamic development of economic sectors, especially the private sector and digital economy, but also demonstrates the commitment of the Party and State in building a transparent and favorable investment and business environment.
Enhance stature, comprehensive development
According to the Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung, in order to realize the development aspiration, An Giang province seriously, synchronously and creatively implements important resolutions of the Politburo on strategic pillars such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Resolution 59-NQ/TW, Resolution 66-NQ/TW and Resolution 68-NQ/TW. This is the "compass" for all activities, ensuring development in the right direction. Along with economic development, the province pays attention to comprehensively developing social security and improving the quality of people's lives. Developing culture and preserving traditional values are key factors, associated with arousing the confidence, pride and aspiration to contribute of each person in the new province. Along with that, strongly shifting to a development model based on knowledge, technology and high-quality human resources. This is an orientation in line with the spirit of the new resolutions of the Politburo, and at the same time is the shortest path for the province to make a breakthrough and catch up with new development trends in the era of digital transformation and comprehensive integration.
The success of the new province lies not only in economic figures, but also in the strength of the political system. The successful organization of Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party is a key task. Personnel work will be carefully prepared, in accordance with principles, procedures, democracy, impartiality, and objectivity, ensuring the building of a collective leadership of the Party Committee and the new provincial government with quality, courage, solidarity, vision, and modern management capacity. The arrangement and assignment of personnel must be harmonious between regions, avoiding localism or the expression of group interests. Personnel must truly be the center of reform, the leader of innovation, with prestige, a spirit of service, and the courage to take responsibility before the Party, the State, and the People.

An international event will be an important highlight for An Giang: Successfully organizing the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc. The APEC 2027 Conference is a high-level foreign affairs event, of special significance not only for An Giang province but also for the entire Mekong Delta region and the whole country. This is a rare opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam as an integrated, innovative, friendly and dynamic country to the world, while creating a strong development lever for Phu Quoc in particular, An Giang province in general, promoting investment, tourism, trade and infrastructure in the whole region.
With the high determination of the Party, government and people, along with the strategic directions of General Secretary To Lam, we believe that An Giang province will firmly step on the path of development, worthy of its revolutionary tradition and important strategic position, actively contributing to the common prosperity of the country.
