Urgency
Formerly considered the central commune of Chau Phu district, Chau Phu commune has inherited positive achievements in developing transportation infrastructure. The commune currently has over 30 roads with a total length of over 180km, including 5km of National Highway 91. The locality also has more than 50 bridges, most of which have been upgraded or newly constructed. Overall, the transportation infrastructure in the area has developed rapidly, creating favorable conditions for the transportation and circulation of goods.
However, rural transportation routes still primarily serve two-wheeled vehicles for people to travel and transport small quantities of goods. In particular, the commune currently has 150km of roads and 10 bridges that need investment and upgrading. Rising prices of materials, labor, and construction machinery are creating difficulties in investing in rural road construction.

Recognizing the crucial importance of creating breakthroughs in transportation development for the socio -economic development of rural areas, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Chau Phu commune aim to continue investing in transportation infrastructure to ensure synchronization during the 2026-2030 period. This will create a complete transportation system, seamlessly connecting with neighboring areas, serving both socio-economic development and national defense and security.
As a retired local official, Mr. Pham Van Non, residing in Binh Nghia hamlet, expressed optimism about the achievements in the commune's transportation infrastructure development. However, he still hopes for more new, well-maintained roads and sturdy bridges. "As the old saying goes, 'Great roads bring great wealth.' I believe that the rural areas of the commune need better investment in transportation infrastructure to create favorable conditions for people to develop their economy," Mr. Pham Van Non emphasized.
Investing according to a roadmap
To invest in a synchronized transportation infrastructure system, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Chau Phu commune have mobilized maximum resources, especially resources from the people and businesses. This includes urgently implementing internal agricultural road networks to meet the needs of agricultural development, serve the production needs of the people, and shorten the time and distance for transporting goods to neighboring areas.
Specifically, during the period 2026-2030, Chau Phu commune has 22 transportation projects, with a total length of 86.7km, that need investment and upgrading. The commune proposes that the province invest in the following projects: the West Canal 1 route, from the South Canal 10 road to the Chu My canal; the West Canal 2 route, from the South Canal 10 road to the North Cay Duong road; the Canal 7 bridge connecting Chau Phu commune and Binh My commune… with a total estimated cost of over 280 billion VND.

According to Nguyen Phung Anh Vu, Vice Chairman of the Chau Phu Commune People's Committee: “The locality has decided to implement the projects sequentially in phases, with appropriate investment resources. Currently, the Commune People's Committee has assigned the Economic Department to take the lead, coordinating with relevant units to develop a specific annual implementation plan, conduct periodic reviews and summaries, and propose solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles during the implementation process.”
In addition, the Economic Department is responsible for appraising dossiers and projects, and inspecting the quality of construction works; advising the People's Committee of the commune to seek support from vertical agencies, central government support projects, and other organizations to invest in rural transportation systems. It also considers and balances funding from support projects for the development of transportation systems, canals, and irrigation ditches within the commune to invest in the development of transportation systems in the commune.
The People's Committee of the commune requests the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and political and social organizations to participate in disseminating information and mobilizing resources for the construction and development of the transportation system. The General Service Center and hamlets in the area should regularly provide information and disseminate it about rural transportation development so that people understand and join hands in building their homeland.
With the efforts of the entire local political system, Chau Phu commune is striving to improve its transportation infrastructure to facilitate economic development and gradually realize the goal of building Chau Phu into a new urban area in the future.
