At around 1 AM, a fire originating from a corner of a kiosk quickly spread throughout the entire Vina market, which has a corrugated iron roof, on Lac Long Quan Street, Khai Quang Ward, Vinh Yen City.

"My house is about 500 meters from the market," Toan said. "I was sleeping when I heard shouts of 'Vina Market is on fire!' When I ran there, the flames had already engulfed a corner of the market. 'At that time, the wind was very strong, so the fire spread quickly. In just a few minutes, the entire market was covered in a bright red color. The smell of burning was thick in the air, and people who came to watch couldn't stand close because of the heat,' he recounted.

Many vendors rushed into the market to salvage their goods, but the fire was too intense to save much. More than 10 cars parked on the sidewalk were also burned to ashes.

The fire department and rescue team of Vinh Phuc province mobilized numerous vehicles and personnel to the scene to extinguish the fire. By 5:00 AM, the fire was under control; however, several areas inside the market were still smoldering, and the police were working to completely put out the flames.

Vina Market sells a variety of goods such as household appliances, electronics, and especially clothing, serving residents of Khai Quang ward and workers in the Khai Quang industrial zone. The market is part of the "Khai Quang Ward Market Infrastructure" project, covering 7,000 m2, which began in 2016 but is currently unfinished. Traders and residents have set up a temporary market to conduct business while awaiting construction.
