Following the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT, world- renowned technology corporations such as Microsoft and Google have joined the race to create AI chatbots (software applications using artificial intelligence to simulate conversations with users over the internet).
Many domestic businesses have also quickly grasped and joined this trend to create Vietnamese-language applications for Vietnamese people.
Technology companies are getting involved.
In late November 2023, the American technology giant Amazon launched an AI chatbot called Q for businesses. The Q chatbot is designed specifically for customers using Amazon's AWS cloud computing service and will compete directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Bard, as well as Microsoft's artificial intelligence (AI) features using OpenAI technology. In an announcement on social media platform X, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that this is a secure AI tool, where access to content will be more tightly controlled, and cloud customers using the Q chatbot can also limit the chatbot's access to data sources…
Previously, in February 2023, Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, launched a chatbot service called Bard to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT application, which had become a global sensation. Bard combines the world's vast knowledge base with the power, intelligence, and creativity of large language models. Based on information from websites, Bard can provide high-quality and up-to-date responses. "Many users around the world have used the Bard chatbot as a work tool. I've used it for a while and find the suggestions interesting, as the application provides quite accurate information," shared Nguyen Mai, a content creator in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, users can comfortably use Microsoft Copilot, an AI-powered chat application from Microsoft, supported by the latest technologies from OpenAI, including GPT-4 and Dallas-E 3. Immediately after its launch (September 2023), Copilot quickly entered the top 10 most downloaded apps of the week on app stores because Microsoft's AI features were integrated into the Microsoft Copilot experience. With a combination of a chat interface and large language models, Microsoft Copilot not only provides information and answers questions but also generates new content and performs necessary actions when receiving requests in natural language from humans…
According to experts, the race among the aforementioned renowned technology corporations stems from the "buzz" surrounding ChatGPT by OpenAI. Upon its release in November 2022, ChatGPT immediately captured the attention of the global technology community and attracted a large number of users. Currently, ChatGPT has many versions, catering to different user needs.
Opportunities for Vietnamese businesses
In Vietnam, VinBigdata is one of the leading companies in the AI chatbot race. In December 2023, the company launched ViGPT, the first Vietnamese-language AI chatbot in Vietnam for end users, and a version specifically for businesses integrated into the VinBase 2.0 multi-cognitive AI platform. Professor Vu Ha Van, Scientific Director of VinBigdata, believes that with the development of AI chatbots, we will not only eliminate dependence on international products but also gradually improve the accuracy of information containing Vietnamese historical and cultural values and minimize the outflow of data abroad.
According to technology expert Nguyen Hong Phuc, 2024 will be the year AI is applied to practical tasks that benefit humans. Specifically, AI chatbots will act as data analysts when users provide the AI with Excel or Word files containing business data and documents. This application will read the documents, analyze the data in the files, and then automatically create reports and charts based on the analyzed information. Similarly, AI secretaries will manage documents, files, and appointment information for individuals and businesses, and can also schedule meetings and write invitations when needed. Furthermore, there will be AI designers, an AI application that automatically searches for images from the internet, designs marketing images, creates product images and videos according to requirements, with unlimited options and working 24/7…
"With the current AI chatbot applications in the world and in Vietnam, we can see that the AI application trend for 2024 has already formed. AI chatbots will appear everywhere, and any traditional application wanting AI will simply integrate a chat framework into the application. This is also an opportunity for AI startups when developing products around the AI chatbot framework," said technology expert Nguyen Hong Phuc.
Mr. Ho Minh Duc, CEO of Vbee: AI applications are now of higher quality and more affordable.
With the current competition among major tech companies focusing on AI, companies must find the right customers, deliver the highest value to them, and users will benefit from a wider variety of higher-quality products. Service prices will tend to decrease, or even become free; for example, if ChatGPT Plus costs $20/month, Google's Bard is currently free with comparable quality and value.
Furthermore, the rapidly developing market creates ecosystems and business models for users, allowing users, technology partners, and programmers to leverage and create their own business models. Previously, large-scale problems like language processing, computer vision, chatbots, and callbots were very difficult, but now they are simple, requiring only integration or the use of open-source code at low cost. Leveraging the resources of technology companies also reduces development costs and time, and requires less manpower for investing in core technologies, building data, and training. This means that new AI models not only support the model itself but also the data and training. It can be asserted that in the future, AI will become more accessible and widespread in people's lives, not just confined to businesses. AI helps us create "virtual" humans to support real humans; systems and factories will be automated; decision-making will be automated or based on data-driven advice; everything will become smarter (smart cities, smart agriculture, smart factories, smart homes...).
