At around 1pm on April 18, a fire broke out at a kiosk in the central area of the market. The fire quickly spread, engulfing many stalls selling clothes, food, children's toys and household goods.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police and Rescue Force of Hue City quickly mobilized many specialized fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to control the fire.
