At about 5:30 p.m. on June 3, in Van Don district, a fire broke out on the 132-seat Tung Duong QN-8686 passenger ship on the Van Don - Quan Lan route while the ship was anchored to refuel, in the water area of ​​Van Don district, 400m from Ao Tien International Port.

Although the ship caught fire far from shore, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police (Provincial Police) were present at the scene, actively handling the fire, and mobilizing neighboring ships to assist in extinguishing the fire.

There were 5 crew members on board. After initial attempts to put out the fire were unsuccessful, the crew members jumped into the sea and swam to a nearby ship. The fire did not cause any casualties.
