The event of Michelin – the world's leading culinary guide – awarding stars to restaurants in Vietnam for the first time has delighted the public. Social media has also quickly embraced this star-awarding trend.

The story of honoring delicious restaurants is nothing new, especially among young people in the 4.0 era and the explosion of social media. For many years, recommending restaurants has become a lucrative profession for many young people. However, this has also made restaurants and eateries afraid of YouTubers and TikTokers… Meanwhile, YouTubers and TikTokers specializing in food recommendations have started to fight each other, even turning into a “war” to “delete” each other’s accounts, and naturally everyone claims their recommendations are genuine and not exaggerated… But behind the scenes, sometimes there are several teams preparing for a single food video shoot.

Praise and criticism in the realm of food are perfectly normal, as everyone chooses their own preferred flavors. Instead of the constant bickering between food review accounts, with a scandal every three days and a post exposing wrongdoing every five days, it's time for YouTubers and TikTokers specializing in food reviews to seriously consider collaborating to define Vietnamese cuisine in a more systematic way.

With the current number of young people creating food-related channels and their savvy with technology and social media, we can absolutely create a professional food promotion channel. Instead of a wave of online competition for likes, let's use social media to professionally spread the culinary traditions of Vietnam. Let's create a sustainable star or award to confidently affirm the flavors of Vietnam before waiting for international recognition.

There has been much praise and criticism already, but it's time for us to join hands in defining the flavors of our homeland through an award, a reputable channel for Vietnamese people to promote it.
