(HTV) - 50 years ago, the rapid and daring Ho Chi Minh Campaign, with the spirit of "One day equals 20 years", took place over 5 historic days, ending with a resounding victory, unifying the country.
50 years ago, on the historic day of April 26, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the final campaign in the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, officially began. This was the shortest military campaign in the Vietnam War. It only lasted for 5 days (from April 26 to April 30, 1975), but it marked a brilliant milestone in the nation's history.
To better understand the spirit of "One day equals 20 years" of our army and people in this historic campaign, the HTV crew visited the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Museum, where priceless "national treasures" are kept. A typical example is the Ho Chi Minh campaign duty book, meticulously recording the developments every hour, every day from April 25, 1975 to May 1, 1975 at the Forward Command Center. The steadfast lines and the rapid victory news not only recreate the urgent beat of the battlefield but also are a powerful testament to the will to unify the country and the indomitable fighting spirit of the Vietnam People's Army.
Colonel Nguyen Van Nghinh, who participated in the campaign in the 3rd Army Corps, emotionally recalled the heroic spirit of our army after the victory in the Central Highlands: "We received orders to march quickly to Saigon, everyone was full of enthusiasm, volunteering to go to the front. When we entered Saigon, we encountered some enemy resistance nests. After fighting, we were led by the people to the Independence Palace. When we entered, we saw the liberation flag flying, and our comrades burst into joy of victory."

Half a century has passed, the history of the arduous struggle for national liberation is gradually fading into the past. However, the traditional values and profound historical lessons from the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, from the spirit of "One day equals 20 years", the will to unify and the strength of the people will forever be a source of great spiritual strength, adding motivation for generations of Vietnamese people on the path of building and developing a prosperous country.
