Chinese tennis - a country of over a billion people - is not a sport that is highly regarded on the world stage. They only came to be remembered when Lina became the first Asian woman to win a Grand Slam at the French Open in 2011. Chinese men's tennis has also only developed in recent years. So Yibing's victory can be considered a historic victory.
Wu Yibing, a 23-year-old Chinese tennis player, just had an emotional match with world No. 9 Taylor Fritz. In the final match of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) event in the early morning of July 24 (Vietnam time), the 23-year-old star known as the "Great Wall" of China lost 0-2 to Fritz, but he had a "comeback" to win the next 3 sets.

When entering the third set, Yibing fell into a state of difficulty breathing, he sat motionless on the chair. Previously at Wimbledon 2023, Yibing had respiratory problems when facing Frances Tiafoe in the first round, the Chinese player had to seek medical attention, some people even thought Yibing had fainted.
Putting aside health problems, the Chinese world No. 89 player defeated many opponents, most impressively Fritz, thereby becoming the new UTS 2023 champion.
Speaking about the "sitting and breathing" situation during the match, Yibing said after the match: "I don't think I was under pressure. I'm here to enjoy myself, to do my best. I think the important thing is that I rested. When you're tired, you just sit."
Previously in the group stage, Yibing won 2 (defeating Diego Schwartzman and Benoit Paire), lost 1 (losing to Taylor Fritz). Entering the semi-finals, the 23-year-old "Great Wall" defeated Ben Shelton.
The UTS is an international individual tennis tournament that was first launched in 2020. Organized by tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou and businessman Alex Popyrin, the event was born in response to the disruption of the tennis season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rublev defeated Casper Ruud to win the ATP 250 Swedish Open
The final of the Swedish Open was a "dream" match between No. 1 seed Casper Ruud and No. 2 seed Andrey Rublev. Entering set 1, Rublev broke first in game 5. In game 8, Ruud successfully regained the break to tie the match at 4-4. The two players then had to enter a nerve-wracking tie-break series, with Rublev winning 7-3. After a dramatic first set, set 2 was played quite quickly. Accordingly, Rublev won all 6 games with 3 consecutive breaks. Ruud accepted to give up his racket with a 0-6 defeat.
In the end, Rublev defeated Ruud with a score of 7-6(3), 6-0 and won the Swedish Open 20231, a clay court tournament. This is also the second ATP title this year for the Russian tennis player. Before that, he won the Monte Carlo Masters.
