From today, June 1st, unleaded gasoline must be blended into biofuel for use in gasoline-powered engines nationwide.
Businesses and dealers are ready.
Starting in late May 2026, gas stations rushed to clear their remaining stock of RON 95 gasoline and switched to selling E10 bio-gasoline.
Ms. Vuong Thi Kim Thinh, Store Manager of PVOIL Nghia Tan Petrol Station ( Hanoi ), said that after ceasing the sale of RON 95 gasoline, the store's gasoline and diesel sales volume remained quite stable. On average, the store sells 18-18.6 m³ per day, sometimes reaching 20-21 m³/day.
"Some customers who came to refuel still asked if we were selling RON 95. We proactively explained the situation to reassure them and encourage them to switch to biofuel," Ms. Thinh said.
Major petroleum companies such as Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex ) and Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOil) have also confirmed that they have been selling E10 gasoline at their stores for the past two weeks. According to Petrolimex, to ensure the availability of E10 gasoline across its entire system of over 2,800 stores nationwide, the group had implemented solutions to create ethanol sources, perfect its storage and tank systems, and develop blending technology at 7 blending points, while also standardizing technical procedures.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Petrolimex Saigon confirmed that as of the morning of May 25th, the system was selling bio-fuel at all 138/138 stores. Of these, 82 stores are in the former Ho Chi Minh City area, while the rest are stores in the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas.
Meanwhile, PVOIL has completed the introduction of E10 gasoline for sale at all of its more than 1,000 gas stations since May 15th. This leading enterprise proactively invested in and upgraded the blending system at its fuel depots, from tanks and technological pipelines to import and export systems. In addition to investing in 13 new depots that meet the requirements for blending E10 gasoline, PVOIL also converted its E5 gasoline blending infrastructure to E10 gasoline blending.
