According to the City Department of Education and Training, to ensure the rights of candidates and meet the enrollment targets of high schools and ethnic boarding schools, after the announcement of the results of the second round of admissions, candidates are allowed to adjust their third and fourth choices. Accordingly, candidates who are not admitted to their second choice must update and adjust their third and fourth choice information on the admissions software.
The Department of Education and Training notes that candidates registering for their third choice must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements to study at the registered school; if admitted to their third choice, they are not allowed to transfer schools during the 10th grade; special cases will be decided by the Department. If a student does not register for their first choice (a specialized high school), the selection process will begin from the second choice in the order of registered preferences.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, a new feature of the exam allows candidates to register their preferences more flexibly. Besides being able to adjust their third and fourth preferences, the fourth preference is for continuing education programs. Students who are not admitted to their first, second, or third preferences still have the opportunity to continue their studies through their fourth preference.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the entire city will have over 45,000 ninth-grade students. It is projected that in the 2026-2027 school year, the city will enroll more than 35,000 tenth-grade students. 59 schools will conduct entrance exams, while 32 schools and vocational training centers will use a selection process. According to the City Department of Education and Training, the total number of students admitted to tenth grade in public and private high schools and continuing education centers will reach approximately 70-80%. This means that about 20% of students will choose other paths.
According to Dr. Ho Thanh Tam, Vice Principal of Can Tho Vocational College, junior high school graduates who enroll in the intermediate-level program at the college not only receive a 100% tuition fee waiver but also benefit from various other support policies. They can choose to study a vocational program at the intermediate level while simultaneously pursuing general education at the college. Upon completion of the training program, students will receive an intermediate-level diploma along with a certificate of completion for the general education program. From this foundation, the college continues to provide further training to the college level. After graduating from college, students can further their education at the university level through collaborative training programs at the college.
According to Dr. Ho Thanh Tam's assessment, with the vocational training model after lower secondary school, students only need about two years to complete the intermediate level program and acquire basic skills. If they continue their studies for another 1.5-2 years, by the age of 20 they will have a college degree and be capable of entering the labor market. During their studies, students intern at businesses. Many students are hired immediately after their internships. When pursuing a college degree through the articulation program, many students can work while studying and earn a stable income from the businesses.
Dr. Ho Thanh Tam commented: "This model is suitable for students who do not have the opportunity to pursue traditional high school or university programs, because they can quickly acquire stable careers and jobs to support their families and contribute to society."
