This visit to Vietnam by the President of the Republic of Korea is of great significance for the journey that Vietnam and the Republic of Korea will take together in the spirit of "good friends, good partners, good in-laws".

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol expressed his joy at visiting Vietnam - the first Southeast Asian country he has visited as President.

The President thanked President Vo Van Thuong, his wife and the Vietnamese people for the warm welcome given to the delegation.

The President of South Korea quoted President Ho Chi Minh's saying, "For the benefit of 10 years, plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people." He said that the saying means training talents and investing in people for the long-term future. The President affirmed that this is also very true in promoting relations between South Korea and Vietnam.

The two countries are deeply connected through people-to-people exchanges, and the people of the two countries will bring the two countries closer together, opening up an even brighter future. "My father, who was an economist, also contributed to people-to-people exchanges between the two countries by sending the first Vietnamese students to study in Korea in 1993, right after the two countries established diplomatic relations," President Yoon Suk-yeol shared.

The President expressed that thanks to the valuable efforts of the two countries' social classes, the friendship and relationship between the two countries have developed to the point where they can become a model for the Southeast Asian region. Two-way trade turnover has increased 175 times, and Korea has become the largest foreign investor in Vietnam.
