Delegates witnessed the signing ceremony for the handover of the certificate of completion for the factory construction project.
The Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, along with the delegation and leaders of Bac Ninh province, spent time visiting the Thang Long-Bac Ninh waste-to-energy plant and listening to a presentation on its operation and waste treatment processes.
The Thang Long-Bac Ninh Waste-to-Energy Plant project covers a total area of approximately 5 hectares, with a processing capacity of 500 tons/day, a power generation capacity of 11 MW, and a total investment of approximately 1,400 billion VND (equivalent to 58.3 million USD).
This project utilizes advanced equipment and technologies, imported directly from Finland, notably the first-ever fully fluidized bed waste pre-treatment line and incinerator in Vietnam.
Notably, after the Thang Long-Bac Ninh waste-to-energy plant comes into operation, Bac Ninh will become the first province in the country to process all of its daily generated household waste using advanced, world-class waste-to-energy incineration technology.

The delegates toured the factory.
Witnessing the ceremony certifying the completion of the Thang Long-Bac Ninh Waste-to-Energy Plant Project, Finnish Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-aho expressed his delight that after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the two countries have shifted from development aid to development cooperation, promoting trade cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis.
The Thang Long-Bac Ninh Waste-to-Energy Plant project is a testament to this cooperation, contributing to environmental improvement, mitigating climate change, and moving towards the green and sustainable development goals that both countries are striving for.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Anh Tuan presented the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament with a Dong Ho painting.
On the honor of welcoming Mr. Jussi Halla-aho and the delegation from the Finnish Parliament to Bac Ninh province, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, respectfully presented the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament with a Dong Ho folk painting – a product of the traditional craft village in the province. He expressed his gratitude for the effective support and attention of the Finnish Government to Vietnam's environmental protection efforts in general, and Bac Ninh province in particular, contributing to the strengthening of bilateral relations over the past 51 years between the governments and people of the two countries.
According to Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, along with development, the province is facing the problem of environmental pollution from wastewater, air emissions, and solid household waste. Recognizing this situation, the entire political system of the province has joined forces, and the province has developed and issued a comprehensive environmental protection plan for the period 2019-2025, which addresses all environmental issues comprehensively: wastewater, air emissions, and solid waste.
Bac Ninh currently has four waste-to-energy plants, with a total capacity of approximately 1,500 tons/day. To date, one plant has officially commenced operation, and two are undergoing trial operation. The Thang Long-Bac Ninh Waste-to-Energy Plant project has a capacity of 500 tons/day, a power generation capacity of 11MW, and a total investment of approximately 1,400 billion VND (equivalent to 58.3 million USD). This will be the final piece in Bac Ninh province's plan to definitively address the daily generated household waste.
To ensure the factory operates efficiently as soon as possible, the leaders of Bac Ninh province requested the investor to quickly conduct trial operations leading to official operation, ensuring compliance with legal regulations. The investor needs to provide good benefits for the factory workers and pay more attention to social welfare issues in the locality.
