Accompanying the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament , Jussi Halla-aho, were: Mr. Sakari Puisto, Member of Parliament, Finnish People's Party, Chairman of the Trade Committee; Mr. Atte Kaleva, Member of Parliament, National Union Party, Chair of the Finnish Delegation to the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP); Ms. Inka Hopsu, Member of Parliament, Second Vice Chair of the Green Party Parliamentary Group, member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with ASEAN; Ms. Laura Kamras, Director of International Cooperation; and Mr. Sampo Saarinen, Advisor on International Affairs to the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament.
The Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Jussi Halla-aho, was born in 1971 in Tampere, Finland. He holds a Master's degree in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Helsinki and a PhD in Slavic Languages and Cultures from the University of Helsinki.
In 2008, Jussi Halla-aho became a member of the Helsinki City Council. He has held numerous positions in international organizations. From May 3, 2011 to June 20, 2012 and from February 16, 2022 to April 4, 2023, he was a member of the Forum on International Affairs. From October 10, 2013 to June 30, 2014, he served as Deputy Head of the Finnish Delegation to the Council of Europe. He was a Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019. From February 9, 2022 to April 4, 2023, he was Deputy Head of the Finnish Delegation to the Nordic Council. Since June 21, 2023, he has been the Chairman of the Forum on International Affairs. In the Finnish Parliament, he serves as Chairman of the Administrative Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. He was a Member of Parliament in Finland from April 20, 2011 to April 21, 2015. He has continued as a Member of Parliament since April 17, 2019. He was the Chairman of the Finns Party from 2017 to 2021. Since June 21, 2023, he has been the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament.
