At the working session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang said that Vietnam is implementing many large-scale projects in the group of three strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure investment, especially transport infrastructure.

Many important projects are being promoted such as the North-South high-speed railway, urban railway lines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong route, Long Thanh International Airport phase 2, Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster and Lien Chieu Port (Da Nang). The total expected public investment capital for transport infrastructure projects is about 1.7 million billion VND.

The Deputy Minister suggested that Finland consider two directions of cooperation, including financial support for projects in line with the planning approved by the Prime Minister and encouraging Finnish contractors to learn about and participate in bidding for public investment projects in Vietnam.

Currently, the Ministry is developing a new Vietnamese Maritime Code. Therefore, the Ministry of Construction wishes to learn from Finland's experience in developing legal regulations on maritime and waterways.

Regarding the Project on Vietnam's Transport Service Development Strategy to 2035, with a vision to 2050, one of the top concerns is strengthening the connection between transport modes to reduce logistics costs. The Ministry of Construction hopes to receive support from Finland in the process of developing this project.

The Deputy Minister said that the two sides could negotiate the signing of a maritime trade agreement between the two countries in the near future. That would be the basis for comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Finland in maritime and logistics .

The Ambassador shared that investing in infrastructure development is a strong point of Finland, a country with a long coastline, so it is very developed in maritime, waterway and aviation. Therefore, Finland has a lot of experience in these fields.
