
The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of budget support component implementation, disbursement targets and the implementation of objectives in the SETP Program's logical framework; at the same time, asking for direction, guidance and approval of annual work plans of additional support projects.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that this is a regular activity to update the progress and evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing projects. Mr. Long assessed that SETP is a cooperation program that brings about clear results in the context of Vietnam promoting energy transition after committing to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long also acknowledged the strong support from the EU and said that the effective implementation of current programs will create a basis for expanding cooperation in the coming time.
EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier said that on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-EU diplomatic relations, energy cooperation continues to be the focus of the bilateral relationship. Mr. Julien Guerrier highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in implementing the revised Power Development Plan VIII and the roadmap for a fair energy transition, and affirmed that the EU is always ready to support to achieve specific results.
At the meeting, representatives of the Electricity Authority ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) reported on the progress of implementing the budget support component of the SETP Program, including the implementation of energy goals and policies and the ability to complete the planned indicators. Representatives of the projects: Vietnam - EU Sustainable Energy Transition Technical Support (EVSET); Promoting Innovative Start-ups in the Energy Efficiency Sector (AIS4EE); Promoting Energy Saving Activities in Large Industrial Enterprises, System Optimization and Energy Saving Practices in Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam (IEEP) also reported on the results of implementing additional support components and submitted to the Steering Committee for review and approval of related documents.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long said that the projects are all important and practical for Vietnam's sustainable energy development orientation. Mr. Long emphasized that the results achieved at the meeting will contribute to strengthening the foundation of Vietnam - EU cooperation in the next phase.
Ambassador Julien Guerrier also acknowledged that Vietnam had completed the work on schedule and expressed his agreement with the action plan presented at the meeting.
The 4th Steering Committee meeting continued to affirm the common determination of Vietnam and the EU in promoting clean energy transition, towards the goal of sustainable development and a modern, flexible energy system.
