Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group, said: From the idea of General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group proposed to implement the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program - a large-scale educational project, aiming to upgrade educational infrastructure, support the training of young generations with science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills, meeting the requirements of developing high-quality human resources of the country in the new period.

The program was launched on September 21, 2025 and according to plan, within 100 days, by the end of 2025, Petrovietnam will deploy in each province and city 3 STEM classrooms according to international standards, including 2 classrooms for high schools and 1 classroom for middle schools.

Petrovietnam's choice to invest in STEM education, especially the model of 100 STEM practice rooms in 34 provinces and cities, not only has social significance, but is also a strategy for developing future human resources for the country, an action demonstrating the spirit of "investing in the future with knowledge".

STEM classrooms will become centers of knowledge dissemination, both a place for students to experience STEM levels and an "incubator" to train core teachers, creating a ripple effect to tens of thousands of schools nationwide.

Mr. Thai Van Tai, Director of the General Education Department ( Ministry of Education and Training ) shared: Adding content on digital transformation, digital capacity, robotics, STEM to create human resources is one of the key tasks of the Education sector. Therefore, Petrovietnam accompanies the Education sector to build STEM classrooms, which is a specific and timely task, and is one of the core elements to spread STEM education solutions to localities and schools in the fastest and most effective way.

According to Mr. Thai Van Tai, implementing STEM education content is a mandatory task in the 2018 General Education Program. Since 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training has guided the implementation of this activity in schools. Teachers and schools have the responsibility to research programs and textbooks to develop learning content so that students have the opportunity to experience, think logically, think critically, and cooperate in the process of implementing learning projects.

Recently, the Ministry also issued a number of additional documents, assigning tasks to localities and educational institutions to spread and promote STEM education activities more strongly in the coming period in accordance with the direction of Resolution 57/NQ-TW and Resolution 71/NQ-TW to expand STEM-related fields of study from high school level.

Reporting on the progress of the program implementation, Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of Communications and Corporate Culture, Vietnam National Energy Industry Group, said: As of December 2, 14 STEM rooms have been completed and handed over to schools; 28 rooms are under construction and installation; 58 rooms are in the final stages of the supplier selection process. It is expected that all 100 STEM rooms in the program will be handed over to schools no later than December 31, 2025.

The STEM rooms are designed according to the “lightning-speed - standardization - sustainability” model, fully equipped with advanced equipment such as smart interactive boards, AI - IoT systems, Robotics VEX, 3D printers, CNC cutting machines and experimental sets on the topic of energy - environment. The model is standardized according to FabLab, NGSS, ISTE, CSTA standards and the 2018 General Education Program.

STEM rooms that meet international standards serve practical experience activities for teachers and students with modern technology equipment such as: AI, IoT, Robotics, digital transformation. STEM rooms are fully equipped with 6 functional blocks including: facilities, specialized processing machines - equipment, tools - learning equipment by topic, smart connected learning materials, hard copy and soft copy learning materials system and bookkeeping system.

Immediately after the STEM rooms are handed over, equipment suppliers will conduct on-site training at schools, ensuring that teachers and technicians are able to operate and use the provided equipment and tools.

The program also implements training and teacher training content according to 4 modules. Teachers are guided to master modern teaching equipment and technology, connect IoT, AI, Robotics, digital transformation, smart classrooms; know how to build STEM lessons and topics in the direction of interdisciplinary, single-subject, research, STEM projects; organize STEM educational activities in the direction of innovation, creativity, career orientation, entrepreneurship and career experience 4.0.

The Petrovietnam STEM Innovation Festival, organized by Petrovietnam Group in collaboration with Vietnam Television, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the STEM Alliance, is expected to take place from May to September 2026, aiming to create a playground for students and teachers of schools, fostering passion and improving capacity in STEM education. Activities within the framework of the program include: seminars for teachers and students; VEX robot competition and robot-drone coordination competition; Science and Technology Project competitions to solve practical problems according to the theme...

The Petrovietnam STEM Innovation Program also aims to promote connections and linkages between domestic and international STEM departments, first of all with Singapore, and at the same time, connect with research departments of domestic universities and research institutes on training gifted and talented students.

After completing the initial 100 STEM rooms, from 2026 onwards, Petrovietnam will continue to sponsor localities (in the form of counterpart funds) with standard STEM rooms for general schools to help form STEM rooms in schools with the number increasing annually.
