Eighth Congress of the Provincial Veterans Association, term 2025-2030

On the morning of December 12th, the Provincial Veterans Association held its 8th Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term. Attending the Congress were: Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Huynh Quoc Viet; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau Province Ho Thanh Thuy; Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau Province Le Thanh Trieu; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Phan Hoang Vu; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang; and 225 official delegates.

During the past term, the Veterans' Associations at all levels in the province have consistently upheld and promoted the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers," overcome difficulties, and achieved and surpassed most of the targets set forth in the Resolution of the 7th Congress, making important contributions to the overall development of the province.

Veterans' associations at all levels have actively implemented and successfully carried out movements such as: "Veterans helping each other reduce poverty and excel in economic activities," building new rural areas; showing gratitude and repaying kindness; eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses... Particularly in protecting national security, they have provided many valuable sources of information to functional forces, contributing to consolidating a solid national defense and people's security posture, affirming their role as a reliable and core political force in building and protecting the Party, government, and people.

In the economic development movement, the Veterans' Association at all levels has actively encouraged cadres and members to promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, and daring to think and act, helping each other in economic activities, improving living standards, and achieving sustainable poverty reduction. To date, there are 19 cooperatives, 92 enterprises, 82 cooperative groups, and 3,685 family farms owned and managed by veteran members.

The work of building a strong Association in all aspects has been given attention; including the recruitment of 1,080 new members; and the timely consolidation and strengthening of the Association's staff at all levels during the provincial merger, ensuring there was no disruption or passivity in the work.

Provincial leaders presented a congratulatory banner to the Congress.

For the 2025-2030 term, all levels of the Association strive to ensure that 100% of cadres and members fully participate in studying the Party's resolutions and the State's policies and laws; that 100% of association organizations and members remain steadfast and firm in their political and ideological beliefs; that over 85% of eligible individuals are admitted to the Association; that the percentage of impoverished veteran members is reduced by 1.0-1.5% annually; that the percentage of overdue entrusted loans is below 0.40%; that 100% of temporary housing for veteran families is eliminated; that 100% of members purchase health insurance; that annually 100% of association organizations successfully complete their tasks, with 20% achieving outstanding performance; that 95% or more of members are exemplary and successfully complete their tasks; and that 95% or more of members' families meet cultural standards. The goal is for 100% of staff and 80% of members to implement digital transformation.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Huynh Quoc Viet delivered a speech guiding the Congress.

In his address to the Congress, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Huynh Quoc Viet praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Provincial Veterans Association during the past term.

To successfully achieve the set goals, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Huynh Quoc Viet, proposed that the Provincial Veterans Association continue to affirm its role as a loyal and reliable political force of the Party, the State, and the People; each cadre and member should become a core element at the grassroots level; promote and improve the quality of patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the "Veterans helping each other reduce poverty and excel in economic activities" movement, linked with building new rural areas and civilized urban areas; strive to eliminate all poor veteran households according to the new criteria by the end of the term and have over 85% of veteran households achieving a relatively high or wealthy standard of living; build a strong and comprehensive Association organization that is closely connected with the people; continue to promote its role and responsibility in educating revolutionary ideals and patriotism for the younger generation; pay attention to building a team of exemplary individuals in terms of character and ability, who dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility, meeting the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Huynh Quoc Viet requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay attention to, monitor, inspect, assist, and create favorable conditions for the Provincial Veterans Association to effectively perform its role of social supervision and criticism, contributing to the building of the Party, government, and political system to become increasingly clean and strong.

At the Congress, the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association appointed 35 comrades to the Executive Committee; appointed 11 comrades to the Standing Committee; and appointed Comrade Truong Dung Tien as Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial Veterans Association for the 2025-2030 term. A delegation of 9 comrades was also appointed to attend the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association, including 1 ex-officio delegate.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 7 collectives and 4 individuals for their outstanding achievements in association work during the past term.
