
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated India on its socio -economic development achievements as well as its successful organization of the 18th House of Representatives election in June 2024; once again congratulated Mr. Om Birla on being elected to continue holding the position of Speaker of the Indian House of Representatives.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed the invitation of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the President, Prime Minister of India and senior Indian leaders to visit Vietnam; respectfully invited the Speaker of the House of Representatives to pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.
The Speaker of the Indian Lok Sabha expressed his pleasure to meet the Speaker of the National Assembly on the sidelines of IPU-150 and congratulated Vietnam on its outstanding socio-economic development achievements; shared good feelings during his visit to Vietnam in April 2020, during which the two sides exchanged measures to jointly develop cooperative relations in all fields, especially in culture.


Speaker of the House of Representatives Om Birla also affirmed that in the context of India striving to achieve the goal of becoming a developed country by 2047 and Vietnam striving to become a developed industrial country by 2045, the two countries need to continue to exchange and think about measures to accompany each other in development.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Indian House of Representatives Speaker Om Birla highly appreciated the important developments in the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India; agreed to increase regular meetings at all levels, through Party, National Assembly, Government channels and people-to-people exchanges; suggested that the two sides coordinate to effectively implement cooperation mechanisms, agreements and documents, including the Joint Statement on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2024-2028 period; and continue to cooperate closely in all fields.

Regarding cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, the two Leaders shared their assessment that this relationship has been continuously consolidated and developed well on the basis of the Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2016, contributing significantly to deepening the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two Leaders agreed to continue promoting the exchange of delegations, exchanges and contacts between the leaders of the legislative bodies of the two countries, committees and friendship parliamentarians' groups of the two countries; strengthening cooperation and sharing of experiences, especially in building and perfecting institutions and laws; and effectively coordinating the implementation of existing cooperation mechanisms, agreements and documents between the two countries.
Appreciating the positive results of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, the two Leaders agreed to coordinate in implementing breakthrough measures to soon double two-way trade; further increase two-way investment commensurate with potential.


The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in other areas of mutual interest, including defense, security, tourism, culture, religion and people-to-people exchange; accordingly, they emphasized the need to soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation, consider simplifying procedures, and move towards the possibility of exempting short-term tourist visas for tourists.
Discussing multilateral issues, the two sides also agreed to strengthen close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, including inter-parliamentary forums, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
