On the morning of May 5th, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province, chaired a meeting of the Provincial People's Committee leaders with leaders of departments and agencies. Mr. Le Van Phuoc and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee of An Giang Province, also attended.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung acknowledged and commended the agencies and units that had advised and directly implemented the assigned tasks effectively. Recently, along with the rest of the country, the province successfully organized many activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and International Labor Day (May 1st), creating a new momentum for the province's socio-economic development, especially in preparing for the merger of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces.

Despite numerous large-scale activities and events, the province maintained border security, political security, and social order, and traffic accidents decreased compared to the same period last year. Recently, the province focused on implementing the restructuring of commune-level administrative units and soliciting voter opinions through People's Councils at all levels regarding the restructuring of 155 commune-level administrative units, ensuring compliance with regulations. Simultaneously, it coordinated with Kien Giang province to complete the merger plan between An Giang and Kien Giang provinces for submission to the central government.

Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Ho Van Mung, requested that heads of departments and agencies continue to enhance their sense of responsibility, inspect, supervise, and remind each other of the progress in implementing assigned tasks. Regarding the reorganization of commune-level administrative units, he requested the Department of Internal Affairs to coordinate and advise the Provincial People's Committee on the operational plan for commune-level government organizations in accordance with central government guidelines and regulations. He assigned the Department of Finance to work with localities on the management, arrangement, and use of public offices and assets, and report to the Provincial People's Committee before May 10th.

The Department of Education and Training, in coordination with other departments and localities, is preparing well for the high school graduation exam, directing schools to provide effective review guidance for 12th-grade students. The Department of Health is increasing disease prevention and control efforts, especially against dengue fever; and coordinating with localities to strengthen public awareness campaigns on disease prevention and control. The Management Board of the Oc Eo Cultural Relics in An Giang province is reporting weekly progress to the Provincial People's Committee on the preparation of the nomination dossier for the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site, to be submitted to UNESCO for recognition as a World Cultural Heritage site. The Department of Science and Technology is reviewing and advising the Provincial People's Committee on preparations for the launch of the 2025 Lifelong Learning program, and simultaneously launching An Giang's lifelong learning application to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Ho Van Mung, requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with the Provincial Project Management Board and local authorities to urgently propose to the Provincial People's Committee projects that will be simultaneously launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in coordination with relevant departments and localities, will strengthen propaganda and address traffic black spots to ensure traffic safety and order.
