Happiness comes from giving.
From early morning, despite the heavy rain, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Youth Sports and Culture Center was bustling with people. The blood donation event attracted a large number of officials, youth union members, and citizens. Although it was still drizzling, everyone arrived very early, lined up neatly, and patiently waited for their turn to register. On each person's face was a mixture of excitement and pride at being able to contribute a small part to the community.
Nearly 2,000 volunteers were present, ready to donate their precious blood. People lined up in an orderly fashion, those ahead guiding those behind, everyone patiently waiting their turn. Handshakes and encouraging smiles seemed to erase the distance between strangers. Regardless of age or profession, everyone came together with a common goal: to contribute to saving lives with their own blood.
Among the crowd, Officer Ly Tien Lam, from the Criminal Police Department of Tuyen Quang Provincial Police, was one of those participating in blood donation for the first time. Standing before the screening area, he couldn't hide his nervousness. Officer Lam shared: "Initially, I was a little worried, but after receiving advice from the medical staff and understanding the significance of blood donation, I felt more at ease. Thinking about how my blood could help someone overcome a critical situation, I feel very proud."
While Mr. Lam represents first-time blood donors, Ms. Dang Thi Thu Huong, a teacher at Binh Thuan Primary School in Minh Xuan Ward, is a prime example of perseverance. Having donated blood 12 times, she considers it a familiar act. Ms. Huong said: “Every time I donate blood, I feel happy because I still have enough health to help others. I also regularly encourage colleagues and relatives to participate so that the movement can spread more widely.”
Amidst the bustling crowds, the image of Ms. Tran Lien Huong, a member of the Trade Union of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Cooperative Union, has earned her admiration from many. With over 35 blood donations, she is considered a "model blood donor" in the province. Ms. Huong stated: "Each time I donate blood, I feel the value of life more clearly. As long as I am healthy, I will continue to give. I hope that more people will join in so that no one has to wait for blood when they need emergency care."

Continuing the journey of compassion
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Red Cross Society, voluntary blood donation in the province has seen many positive changes in recent years. Extensive and diverse forms of propaganda have been implemented, helping to raise public awareness. The system of equipment for screening, preserving, and storing blood has also been invested in, meeting professional requirements well. Mr. Long said: “We always consider voluntary blood donation as an activity with profound humanitarian significance, requiring the joint efforts of the entire political system and society. Therefore, the Society has closely coordinated with relevant departments and localities to organize many blood donation drives, creating favorable conditions for people to participate.”
Nevertheless, the demand for blood for emergency and treatment purposes in the province remains very high. According to statistics, the province is expected to receive nearly 10,000 units of blood in 2025. From July 1st, 2025 to the present, the province has organized 6 blood donation events, receiving over 3,200 units of blood. At the launching ceremony of the 2026 Voluntary Blood Donation Movement and the Voluntary Blood Donation Day in response to the "National Voluntary Blood Donation Day," the Provincial Blood Donation Campaign Committee organized 2 Voluntary Blood Donation Days with over 3,000 volunteers participating, receiving over 1,300 units of blood. However, this amount of blood only meets about 40% of the actual demand; the remainder still has to be received from regional blood centers. The rate of people participating in blood donation is approximately 0.86%, lower than the national average of 1.8%.
Dr. Luu Duy Dan, Head of the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Department at Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital, said: “Not only do localities focus on campaigning, but they also prioritize building a core force of voluntary blood donors, maintaining blood donation clubs, and being ready to participate in emergency situations. This is considered a long-term solution to ensure a stable blood supply for medical examination and treatment.”
With the message "One drop of blood given - One life saved," the voluntary blood donation event not only contributes to supplementing the precious blood supply for the healthcare sector but also affirms the strength of solidarity and compassion within the community. This is also the lasting value that each blood donation season brings, as these selfless drops of blood continue to be given, extending life and igniting faith in humanity.
