Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Lien, President of the Women's Union of An Binh Ward, said: "Besides caring for members' economic development, in April, the Women's Union, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, organized a thematic activity at the Ong Hao Victory Historical Site. Through this, members reviewed the glorious traditions of their ancestors, and were further motivated to work hard, contribute, and join hands in building their homeland."
In Dong Phuoc commune, the Women's Union organized a campaign to plant 150 trees in Phuoc Hung hamlet, combined with pruning trees that obstructed visibility, contributing to traffic safety and creating a more open and pleasant environment. The Women's Union also launched a "Zero-Cost Booth" model, donating nearly 1,000 sets of clothing to over 200 women in difficult circumstances; and launched a model to "Encourage women to marry before 30 and have two children before 35" to effectively implement population policies in the new context.
During the historic month of April, the Women's Union of Xa Phien commune, in coordination with the Veterans' Association and the Farmers' Association, launched the "Flower-lined, Bright, Green, Clean, and Beautiful Road" model in Cai Nhau hamlet, stretching over 5km. The activity attracted more than 50 members and residents who participated in planting portulaca flowers, collecting garbage, clearing bushes, and promoting waste sorting at source. Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Uoc, Vice President of the Women's Union of Xa Phien commune, shared: "Through this activity, we hope to contribute to raising awareness among female cadres and members in protecting the environment and building a brighter, greener, cleaner, and more beautiful new rural area."
At the city level, the Can Tho City Women's Union organized many activities to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, such as: a competition on "Wrapping, cooking, and displaying banh tet and banh chung" (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), with the theme "Returning to our roots"; a program to visit historical sites; and coordination in building a rural traffic bridge connecting Hamlet 8, An Lac Thon Commune, and Hamlet 8, Dai Hai Commune, with over 596 million VND raised through social mobilization. Simultaneously, they coordinated medical check-ups and visits to families of policy beneficiaries and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, demonstrating the principle of "repaying gratitude."
Through a series of meaningful activities, the Women's Union of Can Tho City has clearly affirmed its position and responsibility towards the community. These humane and practical actions not only honor traditional values but also portray the image of the modern woman: dynamic in the economy, actively protecting the environment, and contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland.
