In the first half of this year, Vua Nem - the largest chain of mattress, blanket and pillow stores in the country, made a profit of 3 billion VND, after losing nearly 55 billion VND last year.
This information was announced by Vua Nem Joint Stock Company in its periodic financial information report sent to the Hanoi Stock Exchange.
This retail company has cut its losses with a profit after tax of about 3 billion VND in the first 6 months of this year. However, the company has not announced its revenue target. Last year, Vua Nem lost about 54.5 billion VND. The year before, the country's largest mattress retailer made a profit of more than 5 billion VND.
By June 30, Vua Nem's equity increased slightly compared to the end of last year to VND108 billion. The debt-to-equity ratio decreased from 4.1 times to 2.9 times, corresponding to outstanding debt of about VND313 billion.
The company's outstanding bonds remained unchanged at VND150 billion. This is the Vua Nem bond issued in the middle of last year with a term of 24 months. In the first half of this year, the company paid nearly VND9 billion in interest for this bond.
The Vua Nem ecosystem has a parent company, Vua Nem Investment Joint Stock Company. This enterprise owns two subsidiaries, including Chuc Ngu Ngon Joint Stock Company - which manages investments, and Vua Nem Joint Stock Company - which sells blankets, sheets, pillows, mattresses, carpets and other textile products. The majority of revenue comes from sales activities.
Vua Nem was founded in 2007 by a startup group led by Mr. Nguyen Vu Nghia and Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh. 10 years later, Mekong Capital joined and reorganized the ecosystem as it is today, aiming to become the largest bedding retailer in the country.
In 2021, this mattress retail chain announced that it sold 46,000 units. To date, Vua Nem has more than 140 stores nationwide, down a few points compared to the end of the first quarter.
