Speaking to the media before the training session, Brazilian striker Nguyen Xuan Son said: "I am very happy to be a part of the Vietnam team. You know, playing for a national team is the dream and aspiration of any professional player. And now I am a Vietnamese player. I am in Laos, with the best players, the best form of Vietnamese football. I am trained by a good coach. Everything is great."
When asked about his ability to integrate into the national team, Xuan Son said: "I have never worn the Vietnamese national team jersey before. But I have played football for 5 years in the V-League. I know many Vietnamese players. Many of them are my teammates and friends at the clubs I have played for in the V-League. We talk to each other and exchange many things. One of them is my personal goals and aspirations when joining the Vietnamese national team. I will try to adapt to each training session and each match of the Vietnamese national team. I hope to be able to contribute to the Vietnamese national team at the AFF Cup 2024".
