Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club terminates contracts of 5 players involved in match-fixing; players are prosecuted.

" Upon receiving information from the authorities regarding violations by a group of players during the 2023/24 National First Division Football League season, the leadership of Ba Ria Vung Tau Football Club has decided to take strict action by terminating the employment contracts of the offending individuals in accordance with regulations ," Ba Ria Vung Tau Football Club announced on its homepage.

On the morning of February 1st, the Investigation Police Agency of Ba Ria Vung Tau province served the decisions to initiate criminal proceedings and indict the following individuals: LBGH (born in 2002, residing in Thanh Hoa province, midfielder), PVP (born in 2004, residing in Hai Duong province, forward), NSH (born in 1994, residing in Dong Thap province, goalkeeper), NQH (born in 2004, residing in Dong Nai province, midfielder), and TKA (born in 2004, residing in Ben Tre province, midfielder) for the crime of "Gambling" under Article 321 of the Penal Code.

Some players from Ba Ria Vung Tau Club participated in gambling.

These decisions have been approved by the People's Procuratorate at the same level. The five individuals are players of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau football club.

According to initial information, the players in question conspired and agreed to underperform in order to help Da Nang FC win their match in the National First Division on December 24, 2023. Afterward, they placed bets on Da Nang FC's victory on online betting sites and profited illegally.

On the part of Ba Ria Vung Tau Football Club, the team affirmed that it will be firm in dealing with individuals and groups that negatively affect the team's brand in particular and Vietnamese football in general.

Furthermore, the club is always willing to cooperate and provide evidence to the best of its ability to assist the investigation by the authorities.
