Pique's club faces a potential transfer ban. |
FC Andorra, currently playing in the Spanish Second Division, continues to be embroiled in legal troubles with former coach Eder Sarabia, as the club has yet to pay the compensation ordered by the Andorran Supreme Court.
According to Spanish media, Sarabia has officially requested enforcement of the judgment after a long wait. The coach, currently managing Elche, won the lawsuit related to his dismissal by FC Andorra in March 2024.
The court ruled that the club owned by Gerard Pique must pay Sarabia €630,000. This amount includes over €611,000 in contract compensation and nearly €19,000 in unused vacation pay.
This was a major turning point in the case. In the initial ruling, the compensation amount was only around 175,000 euros plus interest. However, the Supreme Court of Andorra accepted Sarabia's argument regarding the contract clause extending until June 2025.
Accordingly, the Spanish coach is entitled to receive the remaining income if his contract is terminated prematurely.
Despite the ruling being in effect, FC Andorra has yet to pay. This has forced Sarabia to move on to the next step: submitting a formal request to the Spanish Football Federation.
If FC Andorra continues to fail to fulfill its financial obligations, it risks facing severe penalties, most notably the suspension of its league rights.
This means the club will not be able to register new players in upcoming transfer windows.
The incident is severely damaging FC Andorra's image, especially since the team was once considered an ambitious project by Gerard Pique after the former Barcelona defender took over the club.
