To date, the most surprising transfer to Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club for Vietnamese football fans is that of Vietnam national team goalkeeper Dang Van Lam. According to information from Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club coach Nguyen Viet Thang, Van Lam will join the club on a four-year contract, receiving a signing bonus of approximately 6.8 billion VND per season.

Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam has moved down to the First Division to play for Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club.

Thus, the Vietnamese-born goalkeeper will receive a total of 27.2 billion VND for his 4-year contract with Thanh Nien Ho Chi Minh City FC. It is known that Dang Van Lam still has one season left on his contract with Quy Nhon Binh Dinh FC. On the morning of August 13th, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh FC still sent birthday wishes to the goalkeeper on their official website. He is trying to resolve his contract with Quy Nhon Binh Dinh FC so that he can soon join training with his new club.

Besides Dang Van Lam, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club has recruited a total of 15 players currently playing in the V-League, including center-back Nguyen Huu Tuan (Nam Dinh Steel); defender Do Thanh Thinh (Nam Dinh Steel), center-back Le Ngoc Bao (Quy Nhon Binh Dinh), Trinh Duc Loi (Quy Nhon Binh Dinh), La Nguyen Bao Trung (Hanoi Police Club); midfielders Do Van Thuan (Quy Nhon Binh Dinh), Nguyen Duc Viet (HAGL), Nguyen Van Viet (SLNA), Tran Hoang Son (The Cong Viettel ); forwards Dinh Thanh Binh (HAGL), Le Minh Binh (HAGL), Tran Ngoc Son (Nam Dinh Steel), Pham Van Thanh (Quy Nhon Binh Dinh), Ha Duc Chinh (Quy Nhon Binh Dinh) and Pham Gia Hung (Hanoi Police Club). Most of these players have already made a name for themselves in the V-League. Even veterans like Huu Tuan, Van Thuan, Thanh Thinh, Ngoc Bao, and Dinh Thanh Binh have previously played for the Vietnamese national team.

Last season, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club (then known as Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club) performed excellently in the national second division, finishing second in Group B. Then, in the play-off match for promotion to the national first division, they continued to surprise by defeating Bac Ninh Club on penalties (after a 2-2 draw in regular time).

After securing promotion to the First Division, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club decided to change its name to Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club and appointed Nguyen Viet Thang, former assistant coach to Troussier of the Vietnamese national team, as its new manager with a two-year contract. It's clear that, with the backing of a bank, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club is receiving significant investment to achieve promotion to the V-League in its first season in the First Division. Furthermore, with a strong squad, experts and fans believe that Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club can aim for the highest goal in the 2024-2025 National Cup, as V-League clubs are not allowed to use foreign players in this competition, meaning their strength is not guaranteed to win. The most crucial thing for Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club right now is for Coach Nguyen Viet Thang to integrate these players into a cohesive and effective team on the field. If they can do that, they will have few worthy rivals in the first division this season.

The 2024-2025 First Division season is scheduled to kick off on October 19th with 11 teams competing. However, to date, three teams – Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai , and Dinh Huong Phu Nhuan – have yet to announce their preparations for this season.
