Born in 2004 in Ha Tinh , Le Thi An faced a challenging journey at the age of 18. During the Covid-19 pandemic, An was diagnosed with bone cancer – a disease that forced her to choose between bone replacement and amputation of one leg.

To save costs and increase the chances of successful treatment, An decided to have her right leg amputated – a decision that was not easy for a young woman. In 2022, An completed her treatment plan. From a beautiful, vibrant girl, An had to start adapting to a new life with only one leg.

Le Thi An (on the left) shares her journey of overcoming bone cancer. An's efforts have become a great source of inspiration for the disabled community in Vietnam and internationally.

At the end of 2023, she chose the Center for Empowering Lives as her new companion. An hopes to have a profession so that even if she can't help her mother, she can take care of herself and her mother won't have to worry anymore.

Here, after a 6-month course, An not only mastered technological skills but also regained the confidence to reintegrate into life. With much help from teachers and friends, An found a job related to her field of study, doing data labeling at Testwork Vietnam Company - a partner of the Center for Empowering Lives.

Not only is Le Thi An a resilient individual, but she is also an active member of the Vietnamese team at GiTC 2024. GiTC is an annual competition that brings together young people with disabilities from many countries in Southeast Asia. The goal of the competition is not only to promote information technology skills, but also to encourage self-confidence, integration, and self-affirmation within the international community.

Throughout the training and competition, she and her teammates supported each other, creating a beautiful image of the spirit of Vietnamese people with disabilities. In the "Best Excel" competition, An's outstanding performance contributed to Vietnam winning the top prize. At the awards ceremony, An and her teammates couldn't hide their emotions . "We weren't just competing for ourselves, but also carrying the pride of the Vietnamese community with disabilities," An shared.

Currently, An has a stable job, but she doesn't want to stop there. She hopes to return to the Center for Empowering Lives as a mentor, to continue inspiring and supporting young people in similar circumstances.

At the "Station of Love" program, Le Thi An hopes to share her story with many people, to spread the message of love, because life is still long ahead, and for people with disabilities, each day of life means a lot of effort and struggle. "Giving people with disabilities a profession is giving them a future. I hope I can help others overcome their inferiority complex and confidently integrate into society," An shared with determination.

Participating in a makeup challenge on stage, Le Thi An made a strong impression with her energetic face, always prioritizing vibrant colors. For An, no matter the circumstances, she always wants to focus on bright things, from her social media avatar to the small things in life. That's the motivation An creates for herself, and it's also how the young woman encourages herself in daily life.

The inspiring story of Le Thi An and her friends will be featured in the "Love Station" program with the theme "Overcoming Yourself," airing at 10:00 AM on January 25th on VTV1 .
