- With a compassionate heart and a sense of responsibility, teacher Mac Thi Huong (born in 1986) of Ho Son Kindergarten (Huu Lung commune) is not only dedicated to the cause of "nurturing future generations" but also a key figure in spreading charitable activities in the locality. She has ignited a flame of love, connecting many hearts to share with those in difficult circumstances, contributing to enhancing the image of teachers in community life.
We had the opportunity to meet Ms. Huong in early May 2026, and we were impressed by her petite figure, fair complexion, and radiant smile on her kind face. During our conversation, we learned that in 2009, after graduating from the Central College of Pedagogy ( Hanoi ), she began working at Ho Son Kindergarten in Huu Lung commune. Currently, she is the head of the 4-5 year old kindergarten group.

Born into a farming family, her childhood was intertwined with the fields and the hardships of the people. Memories of friends from impoverished backgrounds who had to drop out of school instilled in her a promise to do something so that no child would have to abandon their dreams because of their circumstances. Sharing her motivation for volunteer work, teacher Mac Thi Huong confided: "I believe everyone can do something small for the community. For me, helping those in difficult circumstances is not only a responsibility but also a joy, a way to spread love. When I see children and families overcome difficulties, I feel that my efforts are truly meaningful."
With that in mind, for many years, she has consistently set a good example by participating in and encouraging her relatives and colleagues to support humanitarian movements. From 2021 to the present, she, along with the mass organizations of Huu Lung commune, has actively propagated and called on agencies, units, individuals, and philanthropists inside and outside the locality to contribute cash and essential goods to programs such as "Tet for the Poor and Victims of Agent Orange," Humanitarian Month, and supporting students to go to school... Through these efforts, hundreds of poor households, elderly people living alone, people with disabilities, and victims of Agent Orange have received regular and emergency support, with the total value of humanitarian aid over the past five years reaching billions of VND.
For example, during the floods in October 2025, when Huu Lung commune suffered significant damage, she proactively connected with and called for donations of rice, necessities, and essential supplies to support people in the flooded areas, totaling approximately 300 million VND. At the end of October 2025, she continued to participate in relief efforts heading towards Hue city; in November 2025, she again called for and supported people in Central and Central Highlands regions affected by Typhoon No. 11…
Teacher Huong also actively coordinated with the Red Cross Society of the former Huu Lung district to raise funds for building and repairing charitable houses in communes such as Huu Lien, Tuan Son, Yen Binh, etc., with an average amount of 130 to 140 million VND per new house and about 20 to 50 million VND per house for repairs.
A typical example is Ly Thanh Diep (born in 2008, a 9th grade student at Ho Son Secondary School, currently residing in Tam Nham village, Huu Lung commune). Orphaned by her father, and with her mother having left long ago, she lives alone in a dilapidated single-story house. Due to her circumstances, her education was interrupted compared to her peers. Concerned about her situation, in February 2026, teacher Huong and the school proactively connected with and appealed to philanthropists for support, raising over 50 million VND to repair her house. Diep shared: "Thanks to the help of the teachers and everyone, I no longer worry when it rains or is windy. The new home not only provides me with a safe place to live but also gives me more confidence and motivation to study hard and move forward towards the future."
Not only is she active in social activities, but she is also a highly qualified and dedicated teacher. For many years, she has been awarded the title of "Outstanding Emulation Soldier at the grassroots level," recognized for excellent performance; she has received commendations from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee twice and has been awarded the title of "Excellent Teacher at the provincial level."
Commenting on teacher Huong, Ms. Nguyen Hong Nhung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Huu Lung commune, Secretary of the Youth Union of the commune, and Chairman of the Red Cross Society of the commune, said: Teacher Huong is an exemplary volunteer, always responsible and proactive in connecting resources to provide timely support to those in difficult circumstances. Her simple but meaningful actions have contributed to spreading the spirit of compassion and promoting the humanitarian movement in the commune to develop further.
With her dedication to her work and compassionate heart, teacher Huong is quietly contributing to spreading positive values in the community, becoming an exemplary role model of a teacher who is both professionally competent and socially responsible.
