Elliot Anderson continued to be the center of attention after his outstanding performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford on May 17th.
The 23-year-old midfielder assisted both Morato and Morgan Gibbs-White in scoring goals, although Nottingham Forest still suffered a 2-3 defeat in the penultimate round of the Premier League.
After the match, coach Vitor Pereira did not rule out the possibility of Anderson leaving Forest in the summer transfer window. When asked about interest from Manchester United and Manchester City, the Portuguese strategist admitted that his player's future was still uncertain.
"The transfer market is always unpredictable and anything can happen," Pereira said, "What I know is that the club wants to keep him. We want to keep almost the entire current squad because it's a quality team with personality."
According to the British media, Anderson is currently on Manchester United's top target list for their midfield rebuilding plan in the summer of 2026. Manchester City have also been closely following the England international for several months.
Forest is reportedly demanding a price of up to £100 million to deter big clubs. However, this figure is not enough to deter either Manchester United or Manchester City.
Pereira highly values the potential of the former Newcastle player. He believes Anderson is capable of reaching top European level if he continues to refine his tactical thinking.
Anderson's performance against Manchester United further increased his value. The English midfielder consistently made a difference with his wide passes and his ability to handle the ball in tight spaces.
Gary Neville also praised Anderson after the match, saying he is the kind of modern midfielder every big team needs.
With Casemiro set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, the uncertainty in manager Pereira's statement could be a sign that Manchester United are determined to sign Anderson.
