A valuable opportunity to practice French.

With the aim of providing an open and practical learning environment for students passionate about French, the Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with Hauts-de-France University of Technology and the Vietnam-France Bridge Association, has opened a French communication class for high school students at Buon Ma Thuot High School (Buon Ma Thuot ward).

What is particularly noteworthy is that these open classes are taught directly by Professor Richardot Valérie Ginette, Head of the Department of Linguistics at the Hauts-de-France Polytechnic University, who traveled all the way from the far north of France.

The class is organized according to the needs and abilities of each group of students with open activities, under the guidance of Professor Richardot Valérie Ginette and teaching assistant Ms. Pham Thuy Ngoc, President of the Vietnam-France Bridge Association and consultant for studying in France.

Driven by a desire to improve her French communication skills, Nguyen Vo Nhu Quynh, a 12th-grade student from Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (Ho Chi Minh City), traveled hundreds of kilometers to attend the class. Nhu Quynh shared that she received support and guidance from Professor Richardot Valérie Ginette, who helped her correct her pronunciation, teach her the language through games, and let her enjoy the romantic melodies of French music . “There are many places in Ho Chi Minh City that offer French classes, but the tuition is expensive. This class is very interesting and free. After just one week, I'm confident enough to converse in French – something I was always hesitant about before,” Nhu Quynh shared.

Tran Minh Duc, a student in the 11th grade English-French class at Nguyen Du Specialized High School (Tan An ward), also found enjoyment in the class. Although he had been learning French since the first grade, Duc admitted that he still lacked confidence in communication. Thanks to the dedicated guidance and gentle teaching methods of Professor Richardot Valérie Ginette, he gained more motivation to express himself.

Truong Nguyen Que Chi, a 9th-grade student at Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School (Buon Ma Thuot ward), shared her feelings: “This class focuses more on listening skills and vocabulary practice in speaking, thereby increasing students' language reflexes. This is something I and many of my classmates really enjoy.”

In addition to the curriculum, students also learn about French culture and the French academic system, as well as study abroad and student exchange programs between Vietnam and France. The increasing number of students each day shows the appeal of this special class.”

Professor Richardot Valérie Ginette shared that she found students in Buon Ma Thuot very enthusiastic about French. Through practical lessons, it was evident that the students had a fairly solid grasp of grammar and vocabulary; however, they had certain limitations in practicing communication skills. Many students were hesitant to speak French, and this would be an obstacle to learning the language. Students could learn additional French skills through songs, games, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications…

According to the plan, the French conversation class will be held from July 17th to August 8th, 2025 (4 sessions/day, 90 minutes/session). Each session will feature different lectures. In addition to learning the language, students will also learn about life in France; the French curriculum; and study abroad and student exchange programs between Vietnam and France.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh Giang, Deputy Head of the Foreign Language Department at Buon Ma Thuot High School, shared: "The French communication class is a valuable opportunity for students to practice their listening and speaking skills and use French with native-speaking teachers. This helps students better understand French vocabulary and culture, creating an important stepping stone for them to be more confident on their journey to mastering this fascinating language."

Professor, Doctor Richardot Valérie Ginette, Head of the Department of Linguistics, Hauts-de-France Polytechnic University, shared the method of connecting online with students.

Besides studying, many students attend this class to learn about studying abroad in France. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong, a student from Buon Don High School (Ea Wer commune), has registered for the 2025 university entrance exam for the French Language major. Hoai Thuong attends this class hoping to improve her communication skills in preparation for the B1 French language certificate exam, which would qualify her to study in France in the future.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thanh Xuan, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training, this is a practical learning model that both sparks passion and creates conditions for students to comprehensively develop their French language skills. Students and teachers need to strengthen connections with instructors to maintain and enhance their French language proficiency through group learning, online learning, etc.
