Honkaku-Itame Cha-Han Fried Rice

This fried rice dish is expected to generate more than 15 billion yen ($96.3 million) in sales in 2023, making it the world's best-selling frozen fried rice brand.

This is also the second time since 2021 that the brand has achieved the above record.

Japanese frozen food company Nichirei Foods' products have maintained their sales lead in the increasingly competitive frozen fried rice market for 23 consecutive years since their launch in 2001.

Each bag of product weighs 450 grams. This is Japan's first frozen fried rice product that incorporates a "frying" process.

The rice is produced using a three-stage high-temperature frying method, the same process used by professional chefs, so the rice doesn't stick together and has the distinct flavor of homemade roast pork.

The company established a new factory in Fukuoka Prefecture in April 2023 to increase production capacity along with the existing Funabashi factory in Chiba Prefecture.

In 2023, production in Japan was temporarily adjusted due to egg supply shortage, but recovered in the second half of the year.

Thanks to the increasing sales, the product was once again entered into the Guinness World Records for the best-selling product in the frozen fried rice product line.
