Hanoi police announce amnesty for 176 prisoners.

At the two detention centers of the Hanoi City Police, 176 inmates were granted amnesty in the second phase of 2025.

On the morning of September 1st, Detention Centers No. 1 and No. 2 of the Hanoi City Police solemnly held a ceremony to announce the Decision on the second round of amnesty in 2025.

To ensure the amnesty process is truly transparent and effective, Detention Centers No. 1 and No. 2 have informed each inmate about the eligibility criteria for amnesty; based on the results of each inmate's performance, training, and rehabilitation, they have organized public nominations and votes of confidence among the inmates.

Following the announcement of the President 's amnesty decision, the detention centers organized the amnesty procedures, providing funds and new uniforms to those granted amnesty. During this period, representatives from the city's police department provided guidance on the implementation of regulations regarding the expungement of criminal records for those granted amnesty on the occasion of National Day, September 2nd.

In addition, to facilitate the return of pardoned individuals to their localities, the City Police Department has directed its functional departments and commune-level police to advise local Party committees and authorities on plans to receive, manage, educate , and assist pardoned individuals in reintegrating into the community; overcoming difficulties and feelings of inferiority; and striving to become useful citizens for their families and society.

With the spirit of "lawful conduct, ensuring democracy, objectivity, fairness, openness, transparency, strict adherence to regulations, targeting the right subjects and conditions, and preventing errors and negative incidents," the Hanoi Police have completed the implementation of the President's Decision on the second round of amnesty in 2025.

This affirms the lenient policy of the Party and the State, and the humanitarian tradition of the nation towards those who have made mistakes but show remorse and self-improvement to become useful members of society; at the same time, it encourages other prisoners to continue striving, studying, and improving themselves in order to benefit from the lenient policy.
