Speaking on March 11th, the Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Sara Hooper, shared that the "Taste of Australia" program aims to introduce and promote cooperation between the Vietnamese and Australian food industries.
Vietnam and Australia have a strong partnership built on a foundation of trust, mutual respect, and close economic cooperation. Over the years, cooperation between the two countries has continuously developed in many important areas such as trade, investment, education, and innovation, contributing to the increasingly prosperous bilateral relationship.
In 2024, total bilateral trade reached AUD 22.1 billion (equivalent to USD 14 billion).
Last year, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, committing to expanding cooperation across a range of fields.
"Taste of Australia 2025 is a testament to that commitment, an initiative that is not simply about food , but also about cultural and economic connections between the two countries," Ms. Hooper emphasized.
This event, taking place in March and April, is not just a food festival, but also a way for Vietnamese consumers and businesses to experience top-quality Australian cuisine and agricultural products.
The program includes many exciting events, from culinary promotions and cooking competitions to trade and consumer exhibitions, aiming to bring the flavors of Australia to Vietnamese diners.
Accordingly, from now until early April, the program will collaborate with 29 restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce Australian agricultural products, fresh fruits, and other products currently available on the Vietnamese market. On April 12th, there will be a cooking competition for culinary students from vocational schools in Ho Chi Minh City, and the winner will receive training and internship opportunities from leading industry experts.
Chef Ngo Thanh Hoa, the winner of MasterChef Vietnam 2013, will be the representative and a member of the judging panel for the competition.
"I am deeply honored to be a representative of Taste of Australia 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to introduce high-quality Australian ingredients to Vietnamese diners and inspire the younger generation of chefs," he shared.
