Unmistakable talent
Hundreds of spectators present at Dong Thap University Stadium were very excited and amazed by the "embroidered and woven" football moves of the once-famous players competing with the joint team of coaches, supervisors, referees, press and accompanying units (referred to as the joint team) on duty at the Dong Thap University Cup Open Student Football Tournament on the afternoon of July 24.

More than 20 former players are those who devoted their youth to Vietnamese football, bringing many heroic images on the national and international football fields. Now at the age of over 50, some are even close to 70 years old, their physical strength is no longer strong and their running and handling movements have lost their grace and softness. But their tireless fighting spirit and dedicated playing style are impeccable. Many viewers continuously applauded every time these "old men" touched the ball or scored a goal.

The most prominent player in the team of former players is the talented midfielder of the lotus land: Ngo Cong Nham. He still wears the number 17 shirt, the familiar shirt that helped him score many memorable goals for the Dong Thap team in the 80s and 90s of the last century.

Still running fast and dribbling, dancing with the ball at his feet very neatly, Ngo Cong Nham, although no longer fast and strong, still had enough power to make the defense of the allied team crazy to score a hat-trick to create an explosion. Next to him were the "warriors" of Dong Thap years ago, returning to fight side by side, still showing some bravery.

That is Pham Anh Tuan (8), who scored the only goal against The Cong, bringing home the national championship in 1989. That is Lai Hong Van (5), the "steel" center back who was once famous on the football field. That is also center back Nguyen Van Hung (4), famous for his brave ball-snatching moves. Or Huynh Quoc Cuong (19), who went down in Vietnamese football history with his back-heel goal against Indonesia at the Tiger Cup 1996. All have contributed to recreating the image of a glorious Dong Thap team in the past.

It is impossible not to mention Minh "Nhi", a former famous player of Hai Quan, who also scored 2 goals against the joint team. Although he only entered the field in the second half and played on the left wing, not the wing he used to dominate before. But Minh "Nhi" at the age of 66 is still very good, creating many loud cheers. Especially the extremely classy connecting kick to shorten the score and another goal with an extremely tricky turn.
Other former famous players such as Nguyen Van Thanh (Thanh Gu), Nguyen Hong Pham, Ho Van Tam, Tran Van Thinh, Do Van Minh, Nguyen Van Ngan, Vo Van Hoang, the names that when mentioned are the whole childhood of those who love national football. They all left a beautiful impression in the hearts of the audience, students and fans at Dong Thap University.
