Affirming reputation in the dredging market

On a cold day in early 2016, at Lach Huyen construction site, a group of 5-6 engineers from My Dung Mechanical Company Ltd. sat on the construction vehicle 11 to dredge the foot of the breakwater tray No. 10 of the Japanese TOA Corporation.

In that group of engineers, 3/6 people are on the company's Board of Directors. They dream of a future where Vietnam and My Dung Company in particular will have large dredging equipment to construct large shipping channels.

At the end of 2016, two large corporations, TOYO and Penta Ocean, came and started dredging the Lach Huyen waterway with a volume of up to 30 million m3. My Dung was fortunate to be selected as a subcontractor for the project of these two corporations.

Realizing that My Dung's current construction equipment could not meet the requirements of the two large corporations, the company's Board of Directors was determined to invest in purchasing equipment to be able to construct the project.

From here, the largest dredger in Vietnam with a capacity of up to 6,000m3 and more than 32 crew members was born, meeting strict construction requirements. By 2018, My Dung had completed the final dredging items to hand over the Lach Huyen project.

With that project, My Dung’s engineering team improved their skills after working and being trained by Japanese engineers. From this momentum, the company began to add personnel and invest in more construction equipment, aiming for development goals.

Up to now, My Dung has owned up to 50 construction vessels. Thanks to modern construction equipment and a strong team of engineers, the company has completed many dredging projects such as: Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant Project with Toa Corporation as the main contractor; Investment and construction project to upgrade the maritime channel to the ports in the South Nghi Son area with the Maritime Project Management Board as the investor.

Along with that, there are the dredging projects of Tan Cang - Cai Mep international container port and Cai Mep - Thi Vai port invested by Saigon New Port Corporation; the project of constructing a channel for large tonnage ships to enter Hau River invested by the Maritime Project Management Board; the project of maintaining Soai Rap channel in 2018 invested by the Project Management Board of Transport Construction Investment...

In the trend of developing the marine economy , the number of maritime projects is increasing and the demands of investors are getting higher. To meet that demand, the Board of Directors of My Dung is determined to build a team of highly qualified engineers, good at English to be able to compete in the region and international market.

The company also focuses on fleet modernization and identifies this as a key strategic goal in its 5-10 year plan.
